Scaling The X With Xbtool
« on: June 30, 2003, 12:29:00 PM »

i saw the new scaling the X option and thought "goodie fullscreen X"...

not exactly...

i loaded up my color/ledmod bios n set the X to 150%

flashed to tsop (i fried my modchip... don't ask...)

error 21...

i can fix this so no need to help me out, just thought a word of warning was in order...

this may of been simple human error on my part but until someone can verify/prove me wrong, i'd recommend not trying to upscale the X.

ok i did it with 4977 as well...

i changed everything as i have before...

hmm odd, well when i get my bro's xbox here i'll use his matrix to get me back up and running and test it again.

it's a v1.0 3944 xbox with a 40gig HD

flashing went fine... the led light colors even changed properly

hmmm i did change the dashboard file names to all lowercase... but i could swear i did that before with no problems... and if there was an error launchin the dash i would think i'd of gotten error 13...

options turned off:
animation
splash logo
trademark

ledmod : cycle : red-green-orange-orange

colormod : highlights n walls changed to grey shades , logo text changed to black

i saved it to a 1meg bios size and transfered it to the xbox hd

xbtool will open and recognize the 1meg bios as 4977

:edit:

hmm

ok for some reason when i save a preset (first time i've used em go figure) it checks the dvd drive check toggle...

it doesn't show up when i reload (in xbtool) the bios... does it save this option? even though i can't enable or disable it?

:edit 2:

it now seems to happen only after reopening xbtool and selecting the preset again...

i did save my preset saturday night but never got a chance to use that bios...

i'm beginning to think it's a preset issue of some sort...

did you use a preset to mod the colors?

if so check your preset to see if the dvd drive check box is checked...

it might just be a visual bug... but i doubt it...

How would I got about fixing this error on my xbox? I flashed the BIOS with the same thing as the guy in the 1st post and everytime I start my xbox it goes to the Error 21 screen.

Do I have to reflash my BIOS? If so, how?

Thanks..

well that depends on the chip...

try recreating the bios without using a preset and reflashing it, if you can

that might fix it

*wishes he hadn't sold his matrix to his bro*

um hmm

there are tutorials on fixing bad tsop flashes on the main xbox-scene page

but as far as i can remember you needed a modchip for all of them...

you shouldn't flash the xbox tsop, unless you have a backup plan/modchip/xbox... sorry sad.gif

I think it's an LED setting in the new patch code. I've pulled the release until I track it down.

Ok, it's fixed. Sorry about that. I've been redoing the patch code, and I introduced a bug. Use the new build with caution. I think that's the only bug, but those of you who can't fix a bad flash should stick with a more extensively tested version or not use it at all.

Ah i see. Oh well I read this too late. Now I have to order a X2lite programmer. Still its a great app. and I appreciate all your hardwork so I'm not complaining.

Im probably goin to get a cheapmod to redo my BIOS. I did read the disclaimer, but I thought it wouldnt cause any damage, guess I was wrong heh.

Anyways, I love the program, been using previous versions and they all worked great. Once I get everything working again Ill be sure to use it again, and let others test it before I do..

Ok guys xbtool works just fine..... what you need to look at is now that it gives you the option of saying which order it boots to and change the name it automatically defaults to the c partition...... if you have you boot info on the f partition you will get this error.... i have reproduced it.... you need to change it to boot to the correct partition and the correct filename.... not a bug at all

Hope this helps!!
