Only thing you can wait on is that Evox will make a delay and a double-check in the next version if the network adapter isnt used anymore until launching a game.

The only work-arround is usning an other dashboard, avalaunch doesnt do this, but a non-working FTP (for now) isn't going to help you use ur xbox properly smile.gif
XBMP works great as dash without this problem, thats all i gotten tried so far, hope you guys found some needed info

I disagree I believe xp is the problem because it has totally fixed my problem as well as my friends. I have a small network with win 98 running on the other computers and they dont cause this conflict with my xbox the second I turn my xp on and go to start a game or am in a game bam a freeze. I have throughly tested this a great deal I went to a friends house with the same problem when he turns his computer off it works for him. So I made him boot instead into linux and he has had no problems since. Xp must cause the problem when it searches the network or checks/pings the network. Just try it yourself and see what happens to you.

this is interesting, cause what i thought had solved mine didnt solve it at all. I have 2 computers on this network (same network as my xbox) both running windows XP. Surely if you turn these computers off that will provide the same result as not having XP machines.

anyway might give that a go smile.gif

Anyone else with freezing issues after igr or return to dash noticed that their ethernet MAC address is all zero's?  One of my box that does not freeze have an actual MAC address; whereas, the one that freezes does not have a MAC address.  I was wondering if this could be a common problem.

Solved my 1.1 freezing...

now use x-selector to boot avalaunch when i want to use XBMP. any other time i use evox, no longer freezes... network cable in all the time...seems to be dash related.

Try avalaunch if you are using evox?, anyone getting freezes with avalaunch?.

I dont use ava all the time as its got a crap ftp server, i prefer the evox one.

Hello guys, i have been troubled by this network cable crap for too damn long...finally i found a way to repeat the problem enough times so that i can trouble shoot it. I love Nintendo and i was playing Super Mario 3 and it froze so i said ok its the damn network cable thing. So i turned off the box and turned it back on. Went to Mario to continue where i left off and boom again froze, and again, and again. Finally i said ok well wait a min i was playing fine and it just poped up so i went over to my computer and clicked on the Connection that i have for the Xbox and Disabled all the Protocals except TCP/IP. In that i mean i unchecked (Windows 2003, XPHome and Pro) Client for Micorsoft Networking, Netork Load Balancing, QOS Packet Scheduler and File and Printer Sharing cause i dont think i needed that one very much  and What do you know it hasnet froze since.

If you are running Window 98 its quite hard to envoke this cause you have to delete the protocals instead of just disable them but if you are in windows 2000, 2003, xphome or xppro all you have to do is goto Start> Settings>Network Connections> click on the network connection your xbox is linked up to and goto Properties then just uncheck EVERYTHING except Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

My problem is both of my xboxs always freezes the first time i run something from evox or boot with dvd and go online xlink or xbconnect. Once I reboot it once and only once I am ok. If I leave xbox off for more then 5 mins and turn it back on it will freeze again. It will freeze everytime, but again just the first time. Tried all evox bioses know. Even used xbtool to chance color hacks. Same damn thing.  Unplug and all is well. I also tried avalunch (same lockups)
My Specs:
Xbox v1.1 and Xbox v1.0
Matrix mod chip(mode 4)/Chamleon (set 3 bank mode)
Evox 1.8.3752
WD 120gig HD locked
all igr's in evox off
Netgear Router FR114p + 3 winxp pro machines

Sorry to hear about your problems with network connectivity.   I have never experienced any lockups.

Running the following:
xbox 1.0
x2lite bios 4798.03
120gig HD Locked.

Did anyone check the network card chipset.  Maybe there is a revision chip that is different in some xboxes?  I have seen this before.   A revision of a chip, could pose a problem.    eg.  Video Cards, S3.

Personally on this matter, I never had this problem UNTIL I bought my first router and hooked it up to the xbox. It is the Netgear BEFW11S4 router. There was quite a lot of network activity before the lock ups...
My guess is that the xbox *might* be getting flooded with packets and doesnt know what to do with them.

To me the problem occurs only when trying to launch XBMP and in the middle of halo but thats it.

Ive switched to the latest x24978 bios, and hav colour modded it and am experiencing no problems yet. *fingers crossed*

Im running V1.0 PAL xbox, with latest evox, 40gig IBM hard drive (locked), x2.2lite chip,

Update: Ive managed to get the x2 4977 bios stable using a static IP (before Router DHCP configured it) but the problem with this is my router does not like it and i cant connect to the network for sum odd reason, oh well.

I also have this problem when booting halo.

Am running 4976.02 currently, with the evox dashboard.

I've noticed that I can pretty much freeze it on demand by typing in a nonsense address into my web browser.  Typing in a cached name doesn't freeze it.  Connecting to xbconnect, unfortunately also does.

I'll give 4978 a try and see what happens.

well, for me it seems to be working, although it might be as much voodoo as getting NES games to work.

We tried switching to the latest x2 bios, we tried punching in static ips.

what seems to have done it, strangely, enough was filling in the DNS server slots under the xbox config.

it makes no sense to me and my cursory knowledge of networking that that should have happened, but it did.  so someone who was having troubles please try it and let fly the results.

I had the same problem. (locks up on my 1.1 but no lockups on my 1.0 box)

Now my default dash is avalaunch and the locks have gone. I only use evox for its ftp server, avalaunch ftp server is poor and xbmp is slow. I get 8megs a sec with evox and ~4 with xbmp.

First thing i suggest to anyone is try using avalaunch as your dash and see if it helps. With me xbmp used to lock up in about 5 mins with evox ;-(    (using any X2 bios)
