New Xecuter 4977 Bios
« Reply #32 on: June 17, 2003, 07:15:00 AM »

I have a question concerning upgrading to the 4977 bios and hopefully this is a somewhat legitimate post.  I found the crc/hash listed in the sticky and added it to my evox.ini and also added the line to enable me to flash it via evox.  I've also added the bios folder to the root of c: and ftp'd over the bios I want to use.  I was looking at the crc and it is listed as "ROM = "Xecuter2 4977 256k",0x92987e26edd5833921c9b0e539ea091e" while the others are listed as "ROM = "X2 4976.02",0x1e259481510639d69c8223f75bd79b9b" and so on...what I was asking about was on the 4977 it has 256k and I know the file is 256k but when I originally flashed it I used the ozx method and the file was 256 and I made it 1024k by using x2bm...I just wanted to know if I was going to have any problems using a file this size.

Well...in the meantime I got some help from rahula and flashed my bios.  It seems the bios size does need to be 1024 but the hash is still read while it is 256.  I found the string in the pinned thread is for the non colored 4977 so I dl'd xbtool and opened up the bios and got the hash from there edited my evox.ini and now I'm good to go.  Thanks for everyones help!

Here are the strings for the colored 4977 that are going around...I was unaware (i'm a n00b) but it seems you can name it whatever you want as long as it is in this format: ROM = "X2 4977 Dark_Blue",0xd612e7ee1f58a76298d67f39246a8d1c

Darker_Blue: 0xd612e7ee1f58a76298d67f39246a8d1c
Blue: 0xc4c2dcb8714c3a0d6cdb40213172f6e7
Gray: 0x860746a3d229c8851e1f98d45fad546b
Green: 0xe853ca313e1e2d57418cf1759ae73f6b
Orange: 0x9dbf36b33590b073e1b5f71f36438b12
Purple: 0x5888771b9c6308ea5433151cd277a033
Red: 0x00e4ac5dee193d2bcd14910c89732103

So, if someone wants to add all the colored ones to the pinned thread that would be nice for those that don't know how to get it for themselves.

My network cable is always plugged in and I still haven't had one lock-up with the .02 bios. I don't think I'm going to make the upgrade to the new one.

1.1 Xbox NTSC, X2.1 Lite
Evox 3752 - with the three IGRs disabled
Xecuter bios 4977, no animation

get stuck when using IGR, but doesn't get stuck after unplugging network. Go figure.
