WTF?????? It's a softmod.

ok it is well known that xbmp can harm softmods due to the fact that it easily corrupts the eeprom. the most common cause is generally people messing around with the video mode settings. people should really keep up to date and use nkpatcher's virtual eeprom with xbox media center. this would avoid these sorts of issues.

i am afraid that the only thing you can do is at least borrow a modchip. when installed you can either reflash the backup of your eeprom (which if you don't have then you deserve everything that you get) if it is corrupted or if it is a video mode issue then try and change the video mode back using enigmah. unfortunately i believe this is the only solution. i don't think even making the hard drive stock again and changing in the ms dash would solve anything.

well, i don't even know what's wrong with it. I'm guessing since it's the video that it's the eeprom. but if it's the box it's self then how can buying a mod-chip repair the ENTIRE box???

@total_ass

yea man, I know exactly what you're talking about. it's just that i was use to xbmp and hadn't taken the time to make the switch to xbmc. yes, i do have backups (i'm not totally screwed ;) ). I think i can just buy a $35 xenium chicp that i found, if this wil infact work. since my screen looks like that, will the xenium (or another chip) be able to load to a REAL screen instead?????

if the xenium has its own OS then it may do.

if not then you could try booting engimah from a disc then pressing either A or B to set the video as PAL or NTSC, if that's even your problem.

first thing first, try making your hard drive stock and see if you can access the MS dash.

Restoring the C: drive won't do jack.
The problem is with the eeprom and there are only 2 things that will help :

1) Boot using Enigmah and switch to either PAL (button "A") or NTSC (button "B") depeding on your region.
If that doesn't work then
2) Fit a Xenium mod-chip (smartXX and X3 may work as well, but I haven't tried them), get a non corrupted bios for your X-box type (I may be able to help with this, PM me if needed). use Xenium to restore the BIOS.

I had a similar problem on my 1.6 (User error) and fixed it easily :)

if it was just the video mode that went then the exploit should still load and indeed boot enigmah, if the actual eeprom has become corrupted then a chip will be the only way to go.

The problem is that XBMP changes the EEPROM in order to change video modes SO therefore you need to try Enigmah, if that doesn't work then a non eeprom dependant chip is the way to go, UNLESS you have a chip in a 1.0-1.5 xbox in which case ANY chip will fix it, but you'll need to embed an eeprom into the BIOS.

Or if you put Configmagic on disk this should work just make sure you put the original EEPROM.bin in the DATA folder and if it's a 1.6 you'll need the "fixed" version :

QUOTE
Usage: (MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A VALID EEPROM.BIN in DATA)
(NOTE: If you have used evo-x and the backup option you will have backup files in c:backup)
1) Boot ConfigMagic from DVD Drive
2) Press A button to Skip Video (press A untill you see the orange light flash)
3) Wait untill eject light flashes orange (flashing orange means ConfigMagic is ready)
4) To Start Hold BOTH triggers and press WHITE button !
5) Orange light stops flashing and stays steady (Steady orange means busy)
6) If successfull Eject light will Flash GREEN (Flash Green means success!)
*IF there was a problem loading/decrypting eeprom, Eject light will turn RED (Red means Error !)

nope, when i repaired the HDD to stock it fixed everything... I guess you guys don't know EVERYTHING like you thought. the settings were saved on a virtual eeprom because 1.6 can't be flashed.

try to do what i did... i used xboxhdm and just reinstalled a stock system. than after i ran it and got the MSdash to come up (like it was a new out of the box system) that's when i went back into xboxhdm and replaced the files with slayer's evox.

i hope this helps you, seems i'm the only one that knows about this. it's never been talked about on the forums... every one thinks that enigma's disk is the only solution but it's NOT!!!!

reply if this worked for you!

Nice attitude

FYI the 1.6 CAN be flashed, it would have helped if you'd said you were running Nkpatcher with a virtual C and eeprom.
Thing is though Enigmah would have fixed it as well and you wouldn't have had to re-install the softmod.
