Well, yeah.
I figured we needed a new bios/patch, so I'm. just patiently waiting.

Ok.  SO I guess you making comments like CS will not work and most games from here on in will be the same was a little premature and a huge false statement.  You should know by now that everything that is attempted to stop softmods will just be cracked eventually.  For some unknown reasons I find a general feeling of tension between ppl with modchips vs ppl with softmods.  I am not sure if this stems from modchip owners being pissed that they have spent money hard wiring units into their xbox or just because they wanted to always be able to say that you could never mod an xbox without the use of a modchip.  Either way I don't really care...softmod is simple, it is painless and takes little time to accomplish with no extra costs.

I am happy that we can bring this discussion to a close until the patched xbe file comes out.

Just remember Digitalman..that when you make blanket statements like "Useless Softmods, etc" that your just a sitting duck to be proven wrong.

That IRC chat is bogus.  The person you talked doesn't have all the right facts.  People with X2-4977 on a modchip have the game working no problem.  There is no requirement to use M7 or the newest X2 bios.

I'll start by saying I'm a modchip owner and I disagree with the premise behind exploits (in that most exploit users seemingly pursue that route because they're a big fan of shortcuts and doing things the quick/easy/free way at the expense of reliability).

However, I disagree that there is any new protection involved here.  I think digitalman42 is blowing a lot of smoke up everyone's asses about protection.  Now he has some words of wisdom from Mido, whoever the eff that is, "confirming" that there is some protection in place.  This guy is saying that the newest BIOS releases are necessary, but they contain no more copy-protection circumvention that BIOS releases that have been out for 6 months.  So why is 4978.03 necessary?  Why not 4977?  Is it because Crimson Skies requires that an FTP daemon be embedded into the kernel??  It makes no sense.

I guess nobody has considered that there MIGHT be an imperfection in the exploits.  Perhaps the underflow can only be exploited so far, so to speak.  Perhaps this isn't something that can be patched.

Alternatively, perhaps it's just a new feature of the most recent XDK (5659?).  Perhaps it's just a matter of how these files are compiled using the recent libraries that conflicts with the exploits.

Why is it that everytime something doesn't work for a few users (and despite the fact that it works fine for most users), it MUST be some new kind of protection from the MS Empire???

Definitly second you Xeero.  The title of these threads are bound to start rumors from users that don't read the entire thread.

Did want to just comment though on what you said here about the exploits:

Remember...I'm not using any of the exploits as I have an Xecutor 1 installed, however I have these same problems.  I am however using Phoenix Bios Loader (since my modchip isn't flashable), meaning that it's probably more related to Phoenix, or BFM bios, or the BFM patching process.

i agree with that and well basically everything you said too

i personally read xbox scene faq's tutorials and the forums for everything i wanted to know before i even modded my xbox i didnt ask i just searched becouse the answer to any of my questions where there

when the softmod came out i was just totally interested it was just a way to do something new with my machine but i loved the audio hack launching pbl i was so happy with it i eventually removed my x2 and gave it to a friend.

the problem is tho that there isnt many peaple who do it out of interest they simply do want a qucik fix and literally all of them sprint streight to the font exploit which messes with the msdashboards basic functions so fuckin it up is easy and even if they do get it going with font exploit their back here moaning becouse their xbox is looping.

and for the statements peaple put up under the exploit part of this forum is sad its over for softmod and what have you it will never be over for softmods they play hundreds of current games and will be updated to work with future games.

Yeah I guess what I really would like to say is that we are in The GAMESAVE EXPLOIT FORUM.  So all this talk from modchop owners gets real old real fast.  If you own a modchip and want to bash softmods then I am sure there is a forum for you somewhere.  Right now I just want to figure a way around the CS problem.  I don't care about peoples assumptions or guessing at problems.  So far I have seen just about everything blamed for this issue but not one concrete possible solution that works.  Digitalman made stupid blanket assumptions which pisses me off to no end.  I know there must be an easy solution because the Pal version that ppl are dloading does not cause this problem on softmod boxes.  So maybe if someone could find the pal verson and test out the xbe file on the us version just to see what the result might be.

And as far as stupid ppl frying their boxes with softmods..well being that I have been installing chips in ps2,xbox and older systems for yrs now I can tell you that just as many if not more fry their boxes while trying to install a modchip.  At the end of the day there is no problems with the chips or the softmods..it is more in the lack of intelligence in the person playing with said devices.
