It's Gotta Be Phoenix!
« on: October 20, 2003, 12:32:00 AM »

Okay, in the last few days I've been trying to mod a brand new fresh off the shelf (manufactured 8/23/03 - I assume it's either a 1.4 or 1.5) box. I've modded some other older version boxes with the 007 exploit and PBL but this one gave me some problems, namely that everything from the phoenix boot onward has scrambled video. Not blank video, but scrambled video. I've learned how to change the dash, bios, font versions and everything else but nothing changes the fact that whenever phoenix loads, the video scrambles. One of the steps along my learning process was to accidentally install only the evox dash without the phoenix bios loader in front of it and it loaded fine with intact video. I've pretty much narrowed it down to being no other possibility than PBL being incompatible with this version xbox. I've tried both version 1.3 and 1.3.5i on it, both of which cause the video scrambling problem. I've searched and searched for someone who shares this problem with me but I haven't found any yet. Can anyone please suggest any option that may be available? Thanks!

i have that same damn problem. The Pbl worked for my modding boxes fine until I just picked up this brand new box. Did everything the same but when i rebooted the damn screen flickered so i couldn't see anything. i thought i did something wrong but it did the same thing on another brand new xbox. Need some help with this problem.

I also had this problem. I was searching for something that could solve this problem. I found the answer on the forums of PBL. You guys should use: EvoXD6_EjectFix_bfm.bin

As fas as i know is this the only working bios with this new version. When pbl kicks in the screen is still scrambled, but when evox is loaded the screen is fine.

Give it a shot, it worked for me. (had production date 08-25-03)

Evox_d6 is an old bios it has no support for the new video chip that is the Evox_m7 bios the only thing evox_d6 is a fix for is to boot games that otherwise wont launch off the usual x2_4977 bios D6 wont work with new video chips you need the m7 bios but your out of luck pbl doesnt support it yet so your looking at either flashing your tsop with the m7 bios or buying a modchip.

Blabla.......... It works. If you don't want to use it, don't. But for the people who don't want to wait for a m7 BFM => this EvoXD6_EjectFix_bfm.bin worked for me.

look dude if it does work im trully happy for everybody but evox_d6 has no support for the new video chip i have never said you lied im just saying the facts but still if it works im happy god knows how but then we dont have to understand if it works.

Evox_d6_Ejectfix wont work on an xbox with the new video chip even with a modchip so this is why i cant understand how how it can work with pbl.

I'm not a n00b and not an expert. So you might be right that this bios is not made for this new video chip. But i actually modded a few and it worked. Don't ask me how, but it did.

I totally agree, EvoXD6_EjectFix_bfm.bin works like a charm.

If you use PBL1.3.5i and put it in the bioses folder and rename it to xboxrom.bin you wont have to select it using the bios selection menu.

Why it works, i have no idea, but it does smile.gif

I think with pbl1.3 you have to leave it in the pbl folder and you have to rename it to what your old bios was called.

xboxrom.bin normally
