Dvd Play Back Issues
« on: October 16, 2003, 11:12:00 PM »

I am running the 007/MA hack with PBL. I have the retail DVD remote thing and it still plays DVDs but if I try to pause skip or rewind it restarts the xbox.
What the fuck? Anyone heard of this before or know how to fix it?

Thanks.

EDIT:
Also for some reason it won't launch DVDs from EVOX anymore. It starts to go to the load screen the back to the dash then back to load and so on. But if I restart the box with the DVD in the drive it plays.

You need to hex edit the dashboard to point at the original MS fonts.

You mean swaping the 3 X.T.F to X.F.T so you can load the MS dash from EVOX? I already did that....
Or is there something else I have to hex edit?

Make sure that evox.ini reads:-
CODE
DVDPlayer   = "c:\modxboxdash.xbe"

Or whatever your renamed your modified dash to.
If you boot with it in it works because it pointing to the original dash, but when you ff/rew/etc it can't find the fonts and crashes.
You have to wait for evox to boot then launch the dvd from there.

That's what it was. I'm not sure how but when I installed DVDx it changed that to my dvd player in my evox.ini file. When i changed it back I set it to the normal dash. After I set it back to newdash.xbe it worked.
I actally got it on my own and was coming back to say I had it under controll....Where the hell were you 20 min ago?! Heh just kidding.
Thanks anyway man.

Just finished following the above on my own box, had the same problem with resets,
It just gets weirder, it goes to the dash no bother to load the dvd but it  goes You need to connect the DVD playback kit (like duh!) and yes its connected and works not a bother, tried all 4 ports.

Any thoughts?

Knackered playback kit?
Have you got a mate you could borrow one off to check it?
Have you done any other modifications to the dash or JUST the x.t.f checks?

Did the same thing with mine....have the signed phoenix and evo x up and running.  Tried to hex edit the xboxdash.xbe, but it found 7 instances of xtf...not three.  Did everything by the book, but I still can't get it to bring up the msdash, and still have the same dvd problem the original poster had.

Can anyone help me with this?

you should have searched for x.t.f not xtf.

Checked it on another box no probs,
Basically I was following the mad_gouki tut for softmodding, and just did this. Im going to try to go from scratch again reset the box using slayer and try it then I will see then

Hmmm....tried finding "x.t.f" in my hex editor for my xbe...it said it found no instances...  I tried to find it using the hex value...but there are a lot of different ones posted.  One I did try...7800 7400 6600....shows up as "[email protected]"...whatever the hell that is....

could some tell me a valid hex value or perhaps give me some clue as to what is wrong with my xboxdash.xbe if it does not contain the "x.t.f" value, it would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Search for Hex - 78 00 74 00 66
These are correct and are the values I used to edit my dash

There is also a tutorial here
