Screen Resolution Settings

I was trying to find out if it is possible to get higher resolutions on 4:3 HDTV sets. I noticed in the video settings and in the config.xml file that XBMP offers 16:9 resolutions of 1920x1080 and 1280x720 but it only offers 720x480 for 4:3 sets. I tried messing with the config.xml file and editing the values but I fear that these resolutions are set in the software itself. This sucks since I was considering setting XBMP up as my dashboard, but if I can't even play XBOX games in 1080 or 720p then I won't even bother. Anyone have any suggestions?
