you can use xbtool to config what dash xbox would search for first but as you said if you don`t use xbmp as dash, never mind this.
instead edit the correct .xbe path in config.xml...
should be somthing like this... this is default setting
<dashboard>xboxdash.xbe</dashboard>
<shutdowntime>0</shutdowntime>
<sensitivity>0.2</sensitivity>
<xnsbuffer>8192</xnsbuffer>
but i`m not sure this is what you`re looking for, anyway!
