restore the XBMP from your back-up  {you do BACK-UP every file before f#cking with it, Right?}

Then place an entire skin (Ie. Downloaded from allskins, ect.) into the media folder.  

************You should be overrighting 64-65 files************
if you're not overrighting that may files, you are probably putting it in the wrong place.

If you have XBMP 2.3 try with skins for XBMP 2.3
If you have XBMP 2.4 try with skins for XBMP 2.4
(no vice versa)
