Shoutcast + Routers
« on: January 09, 2004, 04:27:00 AM »

I am trying to get shoutcast working so that i can stream live audio streams into the xbox ....and for some reason im having so much trouble...

Firstly I have a D-Link 614+ wireless router ...forget that its wireless for the moment..coz im not using that part for anything yet...

I have a cable modem connected into the uplink port of the router and an xbox connected to the LAN segment.

Now when i run my xbox it forst goes to EVo-X 3959 build ...the settings are like this:

ip = 192.168.1.102
default gateway = 192.168.1.100
subnet = 255.255.248.0
DNS = my ISP's DNS ips...

my router looks like this :

LAN ip = 192.168.1.100
subnet = 255.255.248.0
my router has internet access persission, wan ping not blocked..etc and using the DMZ(Demilitarizes Zone) for full internet access

i then hit the link that takes me into XBMP  where my settings are like this:

ip = 192.168.1.102 (same as in EVOX)
subnet = 255.255.248.0 (same as routers' subnet)
default gateway = 192.168.1.100 (same as routers' LAN ip)
nameserver = (same as DNS from my ISP)

NOW ....when i try using the net for it it says:

IMDB works!
CDDB works!
SHOUTCAST does not work..just says timed out

....and when i try in XBMC it says openning CDDB Error...try to check if the stream is working and up...bla bla bla.....

i've checked the stream using my PC is its always working...just not on my Xbox for some reason!!!aAARGGG!

PLZ help...do i need to change any settings? open ports? forward ports?
