Is It Possible To Add Newer Codecs To Xbmp
« on: December 11, 2003, 07:44:00 AM »

Hi guys I'm having a few problems with a very few avi's with xbmp.

I think i've located the problem and its due to the fact that the orginal encoder of the avi has used a Variable bit rate mp3 audio track which isn't the greatest idea in the first place but thats another matter.

The reason i know this is that i have demuxed the audio in Virtualdubmod and reencoded the audio in either CBR mp3 or VBR ogg.vorbis, and remxued it with the video (xvid) as avi (in CBR mp3), and OGM (in VBR ogg vorbis), and they work fine

However this is a pain and seeing as i can play them on the pc is there a way of possibly using one of the mp3 codecs on the pc (i guess i'd have to experiment with that as i have more than one) by copying them to the dll folder in xbmp

Thanks very much for you help in advance guys!

To the extent of my knowledge (which doesnt go far),
you would have to use a mplayer compatible codec. Mplayer is a linux product though, so Windows codecs won't do. Go to the official mplayer site http://www.mplayerhq.hu/ and try. Keep in mind though that yes, I am talking out of my arse. But if a slight nugget of truth slips out then great!

What he was saying is that the Xbox is an x86 system, so use the x86 codecs from the Mplayer page. (There are 2 kinds downloadable from there, non-x86 and x86 Win32)
