Divx On Dvd Limit

Whats the latest build is it 29/10/03, does this one have the problem fixed ?

I do'nt know if it's fixed, but you can safely move to the latest CVS build of XBMP.  It's pretty damn stable (the newest one is from 10-29).

I doubt it... since 5months ago i've been bruning udf dvds with 6-7 divx files on them that have all worked fine with the cvs's from there...
it was a ISO9960 problem i believe...
Jut burn in udf mode and it will work!

No, there is a 2GB limit for most .avi files (not DIVX, specfically, but .avi files in general).  This is changing with OpenDML (avi2) but very few programs encode in OpenDML.  Unsure if XBMP would handle OpenDML-encoded files >2GB properly.

Try reading posts properly before answering!!  We are talking about SINGLE file mpeg 4 encodes!

The 2 GB (gigabytes) refers to the maximum size of a standard AVI file. A standard AVI file is called an AVI 1.0 file.

I have just done a little research and the reason for this 2Gb AVI limit is due to the fact that standard AVI files store information inside themselves as 32 bit numbers, this gives them the range of values of about -2,000,000,000 (-2 GB) to +2,000,000,000 (+2 GB). The file itself cannot refer to anything outside this range.
Therfore most program that deals with AVI files by using 32 bit numbers can only handle single AVI files upto 2Gb, HOWEVER some programs use a set of routines in Windows called "Video For Windows" which makes it easier to work with and manipulate AVI files. Video For Windows allows you to use AVI files up to 2 GB in size, but with a bit of extra work by a program, you can expand this to handle AVI files up to 4 GB in size.


AVI2

AVI2 use's 64 bit numbers allowing it in theory to have a single file AVI of 18,000,000,000 GB !!  
AVI 2.0 is implemented in the Windows Direct Show routines, which now replace the old Video For Windows routines.

Also remember the FAT file system has single file size limitations:
FAT     = 2Gb
FAT32 = 4Gb
NTFS   = >4Gb


Summary

Some programs are limited to a maximum file size of 2 GB for AVI files.
Some programs are limited to a maximum file size of 4 GB for AVI files.
New programs use AVI 2.0, which is effectively unlimited in size.
Irrespective of the AVI file format, Windows 95, 98 and ME are limited to maximum file sizes of 4 GB.

Windows NT, 2000 and XP allow files of effectively unlimited size.
