Hey...

I guess htchip means modchip ?

Well i havn't tried, because:

- I have no original xbox games
- The xboxdash.xbe on my hd isn't MS
- What would the purpose be if i cant read and disches which has been burned ?

Hope you'll let me know...

Sorry, meant "the chip" not "htchip".  And as for the other stuff;  I use Evolution-X.  Which leaves my original xboxdash untouched.  So for me, de-activating the chip will at least let me see if everything else is working.  I didn't have anyway of knowing if you did the same thing.  If you had, then de-activating would have been a good way to start troubleshooting your problem.  But if you are freezing the box at the "X" screen then I don't know what to say at this point other than what follows is useless if the whole box freezes.

If you just had a blank screen but the box was still working you can try to change a setting in the config.xml file for Mediaplayer.  You will need to FTP to your Xbox.  Navigate to the partition where you have your Mediaplayer installed.  Download the config.xml file from Mediaplayer partition.

Scroll down your config.xml file until you see this part:

"

   <resolution>1</resolution>"

If, and I say IF, you can FTP and grab the config.xml file, see if the value positioned between "<resolution>[value]</resolution>" is anything but 4 or 5.  If it is, change it to what it should be, or what you think it should be.  If you have a value of 1 I believe that means it tries using the Xbox Bios default setting.  After changing the value, upload it back into the Xbox and restart the Xbox.  See if that does it.  If not, try the other value using the same method.  Also double check that your new value was indeed uploaded from the last attempt.  You should be prompted about wishing to overwrite the file.  You should choose "yes".

Also, if need be, (if you can FTP and none of that works) you could FTP your saved files from the original Xbox back onto the hard drive to see if the box works using the original settings and *.ini file, with the chip deactivated.  I'm assuming you backed up those files before modding the box.

Again, all that is useless if you can't FTP to or from the Xbox.  If your drive is locked then it'll be real hard to stick the drive into a PC to fix the problem.  There is some information elsewhere for unlocking a hard drive outside of the box.  If it is unlocked, then you could stick it in a PC and navigate to the config.xml and try changing the values.  Though time consuming that may be the only way if you cannot FTP to the Xbox.

I hope all this helps.

Hmmm i guess it's locked, since it's the original disk ... The question is if it'll do any good, to get indto the disk and change the settings!

The typical senario seems to be that, enigma will do the trick when people fsck up selecting tv mode ... It won't work for me since, it can't boot any disks ... so wold my problem be the typical ?

A guy wrote to me, that XBMP might have messed up my eeprom - I have no idea what og where the eeprom is, but in my ears it sounds more likely to be this, that an unseen version of the other problem!

Hope you can help...

I thought this type of thing was the reason they invented 512k onboard ftp bios I forget the version executer 4678 512k, sounds like a long shot but i could work.  You might need a programmer to do it though, since xbox gives you the finger.

dsrice brought up an important issue:  Which BIOS are you using anyway?  As he stated, there may be a way to tame this puppy in the BIOS.

QUOTE
It sounds like you have video up to the point that Mediaplayer takes over, right after the "X" screen. I might be wrong, but I don't think that MP has messed your eeprom up.

Yes, i do have video up to the point where XBMP was supposed to take over. The X screen stays there, it dosn't go black og anything else ... just the X for as long as I keep it turned on!

QUOTE
Yes, if you are still using the original HD then it's most likely locked. I believe that getting into the drive to change the settings would help.

OK

QUOTE
Another way to test your setup would be to open the box, and disconnect the HD. Somebody else out there tell me if this is wrong.

QUOTE
If all goes as planned, you will then boot from the DVD Rom. If this happens then your eeprom is not messed up. This is good. But it does mean that you will have to unlock your HD to repair the config.xml setting. I really believe that your problem is in the config.xml settings.

I followed your 8 steps, there was no luck ... the only difference is that when the HD is disconnectet it does not say "XECUTOR II" under the big red X... Still no booting any medias  mad.gif

QUOTE
I assume that the "</useless>" tag at the top of your post indicates that you cannot FTP into your Xbox

That's correct!

QUOTE
What does being able to boot from the DVD drive solve?

QUOTE
It will show that your Xbox eeprom is fine, and that your video output is fine. If this works you could find a cheap HD and replace your original. It also shows that the video settings in MP are the key.

Since it didn't work I have no idea what it did show  blink.gif

I really have no idea, an old one i guess ... I never updated it, since everything was working just fine!

I got nothing else then.  You'll have to try the "unlock hard drive option".  Good luck!!  I'll check back periodically to see if and how you fixed it.  One other idea though.  I see XecuterII.  Do you have the flash connection then?  Maybe try reflashing the Xecuter bios.  I still don't think it's the MS EEPROM.  'Cause I'm pretty sure you bypass that thing when your chip is on.

you meant you get this blank screen was due to the fact that you change your resolution in the config.xml file?
