this may sound stupid but its whats causing it . ive had it happen to me

turn off your computer's screensaver (the computer your sharing the files with)
because if your running a file on your xbox from your computer and its screensaver comes on the file drops and crashes

hope that helps

I can believe that, although, i don't have a screen saver running, my monitor does go into standby after a while.... Will try it!!
I don't remember having any problems with relax, so i will try that tonight too.

Hmmm, actually, no it doesn't, it went all night last night without going into standby! So i must have it turned off and also have no screensaver, so it can't be that.....

I have also been running bit torrent but i't not even gone above 12k/s.

been checking the buffer aswell, it stays at 99% but drops when it hangs.

does this happen when you listen to music over a share?

after the video crashes do you still have an IP and aare you still connected to your network
if so do the shares still show up?

i would check your network cable before goin any farther also

Havn't used it much for music, but hasn't happened when i have.
Assuming i can get out of the video and it hasn't hung my xbox completeley, i can then go and load another video or the same video from the network, and usually i can fast forward to the point it crashed at, and it will play right through it, however, sometimes i have to reboot the box to get anywhere at all.

I have transferred 3 and a half gigs (halo) to my pc fia ftp with no drop out, and have no problems on live.

I just set up SMB on my system and have been getting cut off randomly in the middle of MP3s.  It just stops and goes to the next track in the folder.  It happened three times in the first half hour.  If SMB is problematic I'll switch to Relax.

Just an idea, could this have anything to do with the amount of cache you set in the config.xml file?

I noticed that the default cache is set higher for video than it is for music. Perhaps the default cache isn't enough. I've been having problems with SMB shares with video suddenly fast forwarding to the end or crashing like halfway through the movie.

I will only use SMB shares since my network ip addresses are always changing and SMB is the only one that doesn't require you to enter ip addresses for each computer.

Hi there

've been browsing and looking for similar case..

my relax is not in love with bittorrent and internet connection..

i 've set up my relax and it's been working really nice for few days now
BUT
the moment i enable LAN connection to xbox, my bittorent transfer goes down to zero. my DSL internet also.. practically impossible to surf.

it stops when i disable local netork.

?

my Q is:
is that normal for RelaX?

another Q:
is there a way to normally surf while straming to xbox via LAN, both at the same time?

here is some of my config.xml
