Xbmc - Won't Boot
« on: October 01, 2003, 10:55:00 PM »

XBMP loads fine, XBMC_alpha 10_01 - won't will freeze at some point during loading.

*Went through and deleted all 0face007 / 008 folders from Udata & Tdata

Just trying to get xbmc to bootup.. so have all default settings in XboxMediaCenter.xml config

.. Looks like XBMC starts to load, here is the following folders files it creates before it freezes:
1) creates /tdata/0face008/ folder
2) creates /udata/0face008/ folder
3) creates /udata/0face008/TitleMeta.xbx file (approx 60byte file)

--and that's it.. freezes

xbmc located in f/apps/xbmc/ folder

Setup:
*xbox v1.0
*x2.1_pro
*bios l8est and gr8est x2 bios - paulb_oz 137+ hack
*Loding Through Evox dash 3291

Same here, but the funniest thing is that it worked yesterday!

However I think it might have something to do me updating the bios. I now run the same bios as "reggie" above.

I had the same problem. After much fiddling, I downloaded the CVS from sourceforge and installed it from that instead of the "usual places" version, using only the .xbe from said places.

The Development section of the official forum has instructions for most of this - just copy the "usual" xbe instead of actually compiling and copying the release/default.xbe.

For those with that cannot get XBMC to boot- are you running a patched 4977 bios (lba48) for large drive support?

I can boot the program on my 1st box with normal 4977 bios and 120g hd, but it just freezes in my 2nd one with the patched bios and 200g hd.

I run MXM as my primary dash, and the newest version (.95) is having a conflict with the large drive support, so perhaps this is the issue here as well?

For those of us who don't have the option to re-flash the bios back to the unhacked-hacked version.. Does anyone know if this will be resolved in a later xbmc release?  will there be a fix other than reverting back to the non lba48 bios?

Well I got Xbox Media Center to boot...but...that's not saying a whole lot *sigh*.  See my buddy helped me put a 120 gig Maxtor 7200 RPM 8 meg cache hard drive in my Xbox (using the Slayer Evox Autoinstaller Version 2.1 burned to a DVD-R)...we flashed my TSOP with the 4976.02 Xecuter 2 bios.  Anyway...I got the program to BOOT...but it's really buggy right now (unless my TSOP flash needs to be upgraded to the 4977?).  The video part seemed to work ok...the pictures part worked well too...but the MP3 (music) didn't work well for me at all sad.gif...I would play an .mp3 then try to play another and it would lock up...or I would play a .wav then an .mp3 and it would lock up (I had to power down my Xbox and reboot each time this happened)...finally it got totally messed up displaying ALL my .mp3 and .wav files as one of 2 file names...something really messed up here...and I COULD not for the life of me bring up the screen visualization option that used to be in Xbox Media Player...was this removed?!  Anyway for now I have completely deleted Xbox Media Center from my Xbox hard drive until a more stable version comes out!

Just a suggestion... same thing happened to me yesterday....

instead of manually deleting those TDATA and UDATA folders, access the MS dashboard and the memory / save game manager and delete the entry for 'xbox media centre'....

fixed everything up for me.
