well if the movie is on the hdd succesfully, and u have just installed xbmp, u may need to point it to where exactly ur movie is. this is done by editing the config.xml file in the xbmp directory. i know the default settings were incorrect for me. in the file, there r settings for 'My Videos', and a url location which basically u want to point to where u will b putting ur movies. in my case this was 'f:videos' but it could be something different for u. probably the best way to edit the file is to FTP to ur xbox, copy the file to the PC, edit in notepad or something similar, and the reupload to the xbox. dont forget to keep a backup of the original config file though in case u make a mistake. hope that helps.

I'm having a similar issue, when I set them in the correct dir.  they play all choppy, is there a decrypter in the works to compress them to DIVX or some other format, cause a DVD is anywhere from 2 to 8 gigs sometimes and is encrypted on top of that. And if there is not a decrypter, is there a way to make them play better without relying on the PC

If you are use the latest versions of dvd2xbox it automatically decrypts the VOB files while it copies the entire DVD to HD. This should eliminate anyy choppyness that you are experiencing.

What I usually do then is use boXplorer to examine the files which are now on the HD and remove everything except the important VOB files. You can tell which these are becuase there is a series of ~1GB files named something like 'VTS_01_x.vob' (i think) where x goes from 1 upwards.

Then in XBMP navigate to the folder that these files are stored in (assuming that the folder is shared) and hit the 'Y' button to add all the contatined VOB files to the playlist. The movie should start and play through all the files automatically.

You should also change the minimum cache percent in the 'config.xml' file to zero so as there is no pause between the files.

(Note: I have had problems with some vob's on certain DVD's which lose their audio stream. Either this is during the decryption process or is a problem with XBMP...)

Could you have a look at the vob sizes on the DVD ?
Are they all 1 GB or are there also smaller vobs (concernig the vobs which belong to one title set) ?

It's almost universal for the actual movie vobs to be abt. 1 gig.   If you see smaller vobs on the disc, then they are most likely movie studio intros or special material on the DVD.

I noticed that the alien dvd has one smaller vob in one title set:
VTS_01_1.VOB  1GB
VTS_01_2.VOB  1GB
VTS_01_3.VOB  1GB
VTS_01_4.VOB  174MB
VTS_01_5.VOB  1GB
VTS_01_6.VOB  1GB
VTS_01_7.VOB  814MB

dvd2xbox only writes vobs in 1GB chunks. But this should only matter if you try to play the dumped vobs via the ifo files.
