Weird: Can Only Play 2nd .bin File From 2 Dsc Svcd

.Dat files are VCD's

An SVCD will have a .mpg file in it.  copy the .mpg or the .dat file to your xbox HD and it will play no problem.

Thanks for the message...I know I can extract the .mpg file and play it directly (that is what happens when I play it through Relax since it just streams the mpeg file), but it is weird that I can only play just the second ".bin" file and not the first one but the second one of each 2 file set works perfectly... I know that XBMP is designed to play .bin so I don't see why clicking right on the file (the CD1 file) is not working...

any other suggestions out there?

Still looking for a solution if anyone knows...

If anyone has this working on their machine please advise...

I have tried renaming the first CD .bin a different name, tried copying it to a different folder, it and I still get a blank screen then back to the menu but CD .bin #2 works fine.  Not just on one movie but all of them

i have been using XBMP for a long time now..  i am using 2.4 now and have had similar problems.  sometimes i will load the files onto my comp and it will only see like one of the CD files..  it is very glichy. so i will have to stream one and play other from HDD..   or the opposite will happen.. sometimes they will not stream but they will play off of the HDD..

i have found this program to have a lot of glitches in that aspect.. so i just try one of those methods and nigger rig it ...

that is all the help i can offer..

If the straight .bin playback isn't working, I whip out VCDGear and extract the raw video file.  If that doesn't work then I have a dud file, it's as simple as that.    I'm really just thank ful that XBMP can play the bin files straight up.  Not a luxury I have with windoze media players.

I just loaded up Xboxmedia Centre out of curiosity but also to see if it happened to solve my problem.  I am getting the same problem I had with xbmp 2.4.  It will play the 2nd cd (the 2nd bin file) perfectly on all of my files (or whatever the last file is.. i.e. if it is a 3 disc set only the 3rd disc).  I tried putting them in different folders, renaming them, etc.  They files that don't play on the xbox (using xbox media centre or xbmp) works perfectly on my pc when I mount them and play them that way.(using Daemon to mount them and windvd or any other program to play them).  I really like the option of being able to play the .bin files directly.  I think it is an awsome feature.  If only I could get it to work 100% as designed that would be great!

Does someone know if there is some kind of special header on the last disc of a SVCD or VCD?  Maybe that is what is allowing those files to play and others not to?

I would be happy to provide any further details to anyone that wants it.

The SVCDS and VCDs where made using DVD2SVCD if that helps anyone.

EDIT:  I compared the .bins of the first disc and the second disc.  I was looking for something that stood out as being different and therefor not permiting it to play.  The only thing I noticed on the disc is that on disc one the folder "segment" has a file in it.  On disc two, there is no file in the "segment" folder.  This might help someone in trying to figure out what is wrong

First of all, Relax has its own BIN file support so if you leave enabled in Relax it overrides XBMP's own internal one. The Relax method just lets you open the BIN as a folder which you can navigate to the MPEG and play it. The XBMP method you select the BIN and it plays the video inside automatically (ie. you cannot navigate through the BIN).

I will take a wild guess and say that the reason is because XBMP is not capable of playing multiple titles/videos (segments maybe? re: your segment dir find) in a VCD/SVCD. It is possible that the first CD you are attempting to play has some sort of intro file which is played first, therefore XBMP only plays this and then does not look for anymore.

Thanks for the response Heed...

The "segment" file is actually the file that says to insert the next disc (2nd or third).( an image of the last frame pops up with the message "please insert disc 2" or whatever)  It would be great if I could isolate it down to what exactly xbmp doesn't like about these files so that maybe a solution can be found.  I will try to create an svcd/vcd without the change disc message and see how that changes things.  Can someone from the XBMP team confirm that SVCD with data in the "segment" folder is not supported (if this has been determined in the past).
