I had a similar problem, i couldnt ftp certain mp3 to my xbox, that was due to the file name being too long.

Xbox can not read files that contain certain characters such as , '  
It can also not read files that have 42 or more characters. Please re-check the files you are trying to play and make the appropriate changes.
Try a search for what characters xbox can not read as I am not sure of all of them. I know that it can't read ' or , because they are fairly common.

Erm.... guys....

In my first post I put this....

Have checked what I think are the obvious :

1. Filenames (all 8.3 format)



That means they are in the 8.3 format... its old skool.... but I'm like that....

No strange characters or anything like that.....

I think it may be something to do with an MP3Pro codec being used, but I'm still trying to get to the bottom of it...


Also it makes no difference if they ae a SMB share or on the HDD....
