Internet Radio On Xbox
« on: August 20, 2003, 09:01:00 AM »

i just today discovered that XBMP has the ability to stream internet radio stations. My xbox has 1 station programmed into it, called "ShoutCast".  It plays techno, beat bop type music.

Well....this is REALLY cool, but I was wondering if there are any other stations that I can input into my xbox HDD. I saw that the Shoutcast on my xbox is just a file. Is there any way to get other internet radio stations in my menu (im looking for some other types of music). Any help would be greatly appreciated

oh, badass....thanks man

Which link do I right click and save as? Do I click the little yellow "Tune In!" button, and save as?

Also....once I get the file on my desktop, Is all I do is just drop and drag it into the folder on my xbox where my other "shoutcast" station is? Isnt there some configuration that I need to do or something?

yea, i got it working. This IS awesome.

Not only are there TONS of stations you can get, but the .pls file is SO tiny that you can literally have 1000's of stations, and they will take up like no memory.

I have another question.
I see that when you are listening to internet radio, there is an option to record. When I click record, I see it says "REC" in red at the top left of the screen. What is that? Can you record stuff off of the radio, and make it mp3 format or somthing?

you have to have a folder called e:musicrecordings(or whatever it is in your config.xml) on your xbox HDD and then when you record,  itll be there as an mp3 file

exact same problem here. funny thing is  it worked fine when I had phoenix bios loader v1.2 installed on a 1.0 xbox but after installing phoenix bios loader 1.3 on a 1.1 xbox I get the time out.  seems like the problem should be with xbmp and not with evox or anything else but who knows?  I asked for help with this a while back but my post got ignored, I guess we'll just have to live with it.

Is it possible to download a list of .PLS files or do we need to SAVE TARGET AS on
each Shoutcast TRY THIS! and go from there?

I think you have to download each one seperatlely. and then use XNSPlsEdit_v1.1 to convert from a .pls file to .sc

there used to be shoutscraper but dont know what happened to it.

But there is no need to convert from pls to sc as xbmp have native support for pls files...

I found a good retro PC gaming Shoutcast station here:

If anyone knows of a true 8-bit retro Shoutcast station (music or otherwise) please let me know!

Hello

I cant connect to shoutcast from my XBOX. I have connected it to my pc and my pc to the internet. The IP of my pc is 192... and my xbox 192.... So, from my XBOX I cant acces to Internet.  And now there is my question:

*From XBMP is this issue contemplated? What does the name server means? The DNS?
*Could I play shoutcast radio staitons from the XBOX with a proxy? Which one?

Thank you in advance.
