New Xbmp Screensavers
« on: August 20, 2003, 08:56:00 AM »

I am getting a little tired of the XBMP screen saver that is built in, that is used when listening to music (by pressing X)

Is it possible to replace the file that controls the screensaver, and put in a diffrent screen saver? That would be REALLY cool. I did some searching on my E drive, but I couldnt find any file that had to do with the screensaver. Anybody have any ideas?

It is not a viz file!

It is integrated into the default.xbe.

And as i explained, get a opensource viz (the one in xbmp is called goom), that can be ported to the xbox....

Goom Homepage

So to say it in very easy terms, it aint just a file to put in a dir and it is done, it is a fair amount of code that must be integrated into the default.xbe when compiling....

QUOTE (cb31 @ Aug 21 2003, 09:24 AM)
On my large screen it looks quite blocky on most scenes. Are there any plans to up the res again?

As i alreadu stated, you have 64Mb of ram in the xbox.

~30Mb is left after xbmp is started.

~15-20Mb is left when playing music.

~5Mb is left after goom is started.

So going to a higher res with the current memory structure of xbmp is not possible.

Maybe when/if dynamic loading (things are unloaded when not used) comes into xbmp there will be room for higher resolutions.

so I am pretty much wasting my time looking into this? It sounds like what I am intrested in doing, is pretty much impossible to do.

Do you personally know of any other screensavers "viz" code, that works, that I could use?
