Ho Man I'm Screwed!
« on: August 01, 2003, 10:18:00 PM »

Same thing happened to me.  I can hear the flubber when it boots but I don't see any picture on screen.  This happened when I was trying to play around with the resolution settings in XBMP because it was stretching everything.

POS XBMP.  My xbox is a doorstop now.  Let me know if there's a fix for this.  I can still FTP into the damned thing.

Although this hasnt happened to me, I think you should still be able to FTP to the xbox then just reconfigr it fromt here or just reinstal XBMP and it should work.

The xbox doesn't even boot up with video, it was changed to NTSC J. I was wondering if the xbox will boot up without a system.ini? The txt file on xbmp's site says that deleting it may fix the problem, will it boot without it?

Yep use the Enigmah Video Select disc to fix this.

I've come across sooooo many people that have done this.

Don't use cvs builds if you don't want to screw up your xbox and don't just hit new settings buttons if you don't know what they do!

There is a cvs_readme.txt just for that purpose you know.....

Dude, the video select does work. Just burn the iso that it gives you from the usual places, or if you want to, make the video select .xbe the default.xbe on the disk, then place it in the dvd-rom tray and restart the xbox. Wait for a little bit, press b, take the disc out and restart the xbox. That's awesome, thanks for whoever posted that solution biggrin.gif

I know I am a dumbass. I just changed the settings and now have no video. I tried burning that Enigmah Video Selector onto a memorex cd-rw but it will not boot. I've never been able to get anything to boot from a cd-rw.  anybody have any other suggestions?

If you still have ftp access to your xbox it's fixable without begging someone to send you a copy of the Enigma Video Selector Disc on dvdr (which is your only other option).

If your xbox boots Evox first, startup your box and log in via ftp. Edit your evox.ini so that the first option on screen is a link to the Enigma Video Selector Disc xbe. Copy the xbe over to your xbox via ftp and makes sure it's where it should be so your evox.ini file can find it. Restart your xbox and hit the conroller button to start the Enigma Video Selector Disc xbe. Then hit A or B depending on what mode you need to switch back to.

Just make sure you edit your evox.ini VERY carefully and don't make any mistakes since you could end up messing it up and you won't even be able to ftp in then.

Of course this is assuming you have Evox as your dash and can ftp to your box.

where would i edit the evox ini? in the section root? the first item there is "MS Dashboard",@3 so would I add the link above that? what would be the correct syntax?

I've also got a backup folder in c: with bios.bin, disk.bin,eeprom.bin and hddkey.bin. I was wondering if i replaced those files with these backups if that would work. only problem is i can't find those files to replace them.

I'm afraid I can't help you with the edititing of your evox.ini the best place to ask would be in the Evox forum but it sounds as if your going about it correctly.

The bios files are backups of the actual chips in your xbox. The PAL/NTSC setting is held in the eeprom so theroretically if you could write your eeprom.bin file back to the eeprom you should get video back since the backup was most likely done when your machine was set to NTSC, however there is no way to do this without being able to see what your doing.

I read the CVS readme.  It didn't mention a thing about XBMP doing any video mode switching.  In fact, the Enigma mode selector doesn't work for me.  I placed it onto an EVOX boot CD and threw it into the DVDROM during boot.  I can't even see the flubber animation even though I can hear it.

BTW, my TV displays both PAL(black and white) and NTSC.  The video mode that XBMP has switched my XBOX to doesn't even show ANYTHING.

*edit* Lang-1.xml updated, and new video settings screen. Realize that if you make
settings to your video settings, you may lose video! If so, it may be required
to delete system.bin and/or edit eeprom settings via another app (or ms dash)

- added video settings (not finished yet)

- store calibration settings per resolution

- changing 16:9 / 4:3  works 2 now

- added functions for changing 4:3 / 16:9 eeprom settings

Not to rub it in, but are you sure you read the cvs_readme???
