Replacing 70mm Stock Fan...
« on: February 26, 2004, 11:31:00 AM »

Hi!

I want to replace the stock case fan in the Xbox.
But as I am very lazy, I want to do it without cutting anything in the Xbox, so I thought I'll use a 70mm fan so it will just fit in to the place where the old fan was.

Is this correct?
Will I be able to replace the old fan just like that, without modifing anything?

Thanks,
Lwis.

Although it depends on teh brand, you can generally just stick one in there. Sometimes the plastic tabs need to be broken off and the fan needs to be secured in with hot glue or some zip ties.

Why would you want to replace the original fan unless it was with a larger one?
If it's for airflow, just do a 12v fan mod.

I'm basically doin' it because of the noise.
That stock fan is a bit too loud for my taste...
