You can only choose VOB file to play... XBMP is not a DVD player software... try DVD-2X Dongle Free or use MS original dashboard

Hi,
I've ripped DVD video to my xbox's hard disk (with dvd2xbox).

What is the best software to watch it - or is there any? Dvd-2x plays only from the dvd drive and XBMP has also its disadvantages: not so user-friendly, does not support dvd menus...

This is the exact problem I'm having, and I asked the question in another thread.

Are there any solutions to this that anyone knows about ?

Playing a bunch of VOBs individually, with no working menu, is not very good.  (Not that I'm blaming XBMP - I love it !)

I thought maybe you could create an *.iso from the original DVD and watch that with XBMP, but I can't even transfer it because it's about 6GB, and maybe you can't even play *.iso's.

Anyone ??

PLaying it off the .VOB actually isn't too bad.  I stream several DVD's from my PC HD that way.  I wish it would automatically jump from VOB1 to VOB2, and so on.

yeah, most of the dvd's i have are about 4 GB's, so with a 120 HD i can easily hold a lot of movies in there, but that separate VOB stuff isn't good for me either. i hope that there'll be a better way to play them.

Getting the extracted VOB's play as a regular DVD would be a great achievement for XBMP. Besides with the release of dvd2xbox, this feature is one of the most recommended.

Well like I've said, dvd support isn't complete yet.

So if something doesn't work that'll be why. Use dvdx 1 or 2 if you want proper dvd support.

You can play a dvd .iso from xbmp 2.4.  I have some trigun dvd's backupped into .iso (~4.2 gig each) and they will play but have 2 problems:
1--Must fast forward thru the title screen or will freeze
2--Freezes after ~33 mins into dvd.

I'm going to use bjohnson045's idea of making a playlist of the .vob files.

Actually, what I do is just rename the .VOB as VTS_01-CD1.VOB, VTS_01-CD2.VOB, etc.

In this way, if you enable stacking of videos, XBMP will automatically jump from one VOB to the next.

Of course, you have no menu functions, and you will have to choose the correct audio stream for each VOB,  but FF and RW work great within each VOB.

The strangest thing is, even if english is the first audio stream on the .vob, it will sometimes start in another language.  You just have to go into the menu, and go back to audio stream 1.

It will reset to the start of that .VOB when you do so.

Warchin DVD's this way really wouln't be to bad if you could choose the audio stream more easily, with the push of a button, and if it didn't start the VOB over.

I will be a happy day when it can read the info file off the drive, and automatically choose the roght audio stream on each VOB.

I don't even know of a PC app that will do that.

YOu can playlist your VOB files in PowerDVD on a computer...and I think it remembers which audio stream you picked.....but I need to figure out how to build a playlist in XBMP....off to the search feature!!!
