Low Video Memory
« on: July 13, 2003, 06:44:00 AM »

QUOTE (timber @ Jul 13 2003, 03:10 PM)
Sometimes when i start xbmp and look at the settings it only shows 27Mb out of 64 free. If it is this low i cant see the video in my avi files. While the avi is running it shows 0Mb free when i have this problem, but if it does work i see 1Mb free. What causes this and how could i rectify the prob ?

Sometimes my XBMP does this after playing audio or certain video files.. then playing another video file.. some kind of memory leak i think.
Restart XBMP and load the file again, it should work fine after that.

To fix this problem go into your config.xml and change your video cache hdd from 8024 to 256. That will free up a ton of memory. It worked for me. I have never run low on memory since. 8meg is way to much video to cache in mem for the finite amount the xbox has. Hope this helps

No problem. I think they need to change that setting for the next release so other people will no have that problem. I changed mine to 256 and it works great. Before I changed it when the mem got to 0 the image would start blending and pixilate. I started troubleshooting and thats when I discovered that the mem was at 0 when this occured. I went into the config.xml and simply changed it. Now I have no problems. I only hope others will reliaze this little trick so they can prevent future difficultys.
