I have tried to play around with the advanced settings in XBMP i.e fps and other options and no luck.

Hey,

Did you try with more cache in config.xml?

Like this:
     <share>
       <name>DVDROM (UDF)</name>
       <url>d:</url>
       <cachesize>16384</cachesize>
     </share>
     <share>
       <name>DVDROM (ISO9660)</name>
       <url>iso9660:</url>
       <cachesize>16384</cachesize>
     </share>

Donno if those settings will work, since i never use my dvdrom ;o)

You can get the file via ftp to the xbox, and edit it with wordpad (or notepad)

could your stuttering be a result of playing back ntsc material on a box set to pal?

i got the stuttering as well, it happens for me on parts of a movie where lots of action is going on,  I also tried the same movie parts but from the actual hdd and it did not stutter, so its the cd or something.

even with a fairly large cache the dvd rom drive will never be as quick as the hd (its the same on a pc).  so just copy from cd to hd using some software like boxplorer or ftp the file across.  also cdr's are always going to be slot - use a dvd-r/w if possible - or at least a cdrw which should run quicker.
it is possible that as your xbox ages - the drives may become less efficient at playing back cdr's - i think mine did that wit some software

I have the exact same thing. When playing from computer via RelaX, the problem is smaller but with cdr's its really annoying. I wish there was a solution to this problem.
