Great how-to! I just read the whole thing again even though I have relax set up now. I like the whole section on upgrading to a CVS release best!  beerchug.gif

I must say, I have had difficulty setting this up using searches on the forum and the manual for xbmp - when I followed your guide I had it running no probs in a matter of minutes.  Keep up the good werk.    beerchug.gif

lol  laugh.gif

Thanks  wink.gif

I wanted to knock up a guide for ppl who had little or no knowledge of XBMP / Relax.

Whilst reading / following the guide I wanted also to answer a few questions that they may have.

I hate to think ppl would have given up on this app and thought it didn't work or it was to hard to setup.

I feel once they have a good setup they would  love.gif XBMP and go onto configure some of the new features that have been added with the CVS releases.

There are many how to's here . . . http://www.xbmp.de

I have a question? I got relax up and running but was wondering if you can share more then one drive. I would like it setup so that when I gho to moves on the xbox it pulls up 2 folders from 2 diffrent drives. Right now it only pulls up the frist one listed in the config file for media player. Thanks

Yes you can.  I think the way you are wanting it, you can add a share in relax, which will be a virtual drive, then drag the two locations you want to share into that virtual share. You name the virtual share something like Movies. Reference that share in the XBMP config.xml file. The share will be displayed as Movies, or whatever you name it, in XBMP. When you select it, the two shares you added will then be displayed.

Edit: Note that your config.xml entry needs to use the $ROOT$ option as shown below for the virtual share. The name entered after $ROOT$ has to match the name you gave the virtual drive, in this case Movies.

<share>
<name>Movies on PC</name>
<url>[email protected]</url>
<cachesize>enter cache size here</cachesize>
</share>

What this share does is show a Movies selection in XBMP and will display all shares you have dragged over into that virtual drive.

Another option with this, and something I used, is dragging multiple picture folders, from different hard drives over into the virtual drive and then under the options for each of those folders choose flatten. What this does is allows me to keep my images separated on my computer, because I store them in folders by the dates taken; however when this share is pulled up in XBMP, it appears that all of the images are in just one folder.

If I have not confused you enough, email me and I will confuse you more.  laugh.gif

I have installed, reinstalled, and tried everything there is to do with relax.

When it works, it is great.

But If I ever turn the PC off once it is working, say goodbye to sharing.

So frustrating!

Not much better luck with CCstream, either.

COuld it be CVS 2.4 that is causing the problem?

Done all that and more.

Problem is, Relax just doesn't work with some setups.

I will try the new one just anounced in the news, and see what i get.

CCXstream works well for small files, but anything over 1.5 gigz is a no go!
