Xbmp 2.3 Goes Back To Dashboard - Help
« on: May 01, 2003, 12:27:00 PM »

oh, and i was running older version 1.0.2 before upgrading. I deleted that folder. And i downloaded version 2.3 and then the updated 2.3 file that came out on the 24th of april and i took the files in that zip file and overwrote the original 2.3 files and edited the evox.ini to point to the correct path and still reboots to dash.

Are you trying to get back to the EvolutionX dash? and not the msdash. If so, just edit the the dashboard line in your config.xml from xboxdash.xbe to evoxdash.xbe (I think that's right) or whatever it is that your xbox uses to boot from. If this isn't what your trying to do forget you ever read this!

<dashboard>xboxdash.xbe</dashboard>
<shutdowntime>0</shutdowntime>
<sensitivity>0.2</sensitivity>
<xnsbuffer>8192</xnsbuffer>

Oh, and i don't have an evo-x dash. I only have a "xboxdash" and a "~xboxdash" file. I'm assuming the ~ one is the original. Maybe that's why the original MS dash would never boot when i selected it, it has that weird symbol before it.

This might be your problem:
It seems you have no "\" to designate folders in your e: partition

<playlists>e:appsxbmpplaylists</playlists>
<thumbnails>e:appsxbmpthumbs</thumbnails>
<bookmarks>e:appsxbmpbookmarks</bookmarks>
<subtitles>e:appsxbmpsubtitles</subtitles>
<imdb>e:appsxbmpimdb</imdb>
<home>e:appsxbmp</home>

perhaps this is what you're trying to achive:

<playlists>e:\apps\xbmp\playlists</playlists>
<thumbnails>e:\apps\xbmp\thumbs</thumbnails>
<bookmarks>e:\apps\xbmp\bookmarks</bookmarks>
<subtitles>e:\apps\xbmp\subtitles</subtitles>
<imdb>e:\apps\xbmp\imdb</imdb>
<home>e:\apps\xbmp</home>

And everything that references folder location on your e: partition should have the "\" forward-slash.

hope this helps.

ps: when you updated the media player, did you delete the old configuration xbmp saves in UDATA and TDATA ?  Before you run xbmp 2.3, goto MSdash and using the savegame editor, delete the xbmp save configuration. then launch xbmp 2.3 again (it creates a new configuration save file)

regards,

Anyways, no i didn't delete the saves. i found the saves in a folder and deleted both folder by that name in those 2 folders through my ftp and it created the folders back again when i restarted xbox, but it still don't work.

Also do i need to edit the CD Player.xml and the DVD player.xml?

Right now they both point to the xboxdash.xbe
Is this right, and if not, where should they point.

Ok, it's fixed but i'm not sure what did it. I just transferred the .xbe file from the new build on the 24th again along with the default config that went with it unmodified just to see if it'd boot and it did. Then i placed my config and it wouldn't boot. So i checked it and seen that in the shared section, for videos and mp3's they had diff. file names called videos and music which i didn't have a folder for. Same with pictures. Could this have caused it?

Anyway i pointed to my mp3 and Movies folder with items in it and made a pictures folder and now my config works.
