Xbmp Problems
« on: April 29, 2003, 02:04:00 PM »

Hi all,

I have the same problems, and have tried every build from the official 2.3 to the cvs 4-24-03.

I am running the EVOX 3752 dash and the X2 pro with 4976.02 bios.  I have disabled all IGR, removed the timeserver, snapserver stuff from config.xml, deleted the system.bin and anything else I could find in the forums regarding the possible cause for this problem.

I really love the potential of XBMP, however not being able to use it pisses me off, big time !!!

If anybody has any clues or wants more info, let me know asap, please.

Seems to me that a lot of folks have reported these type of issues, but nobody has been able to provide a good technical explanation of the causes of these issues.

Cheers,

Yveke.

Hey Guys,

I too have this problem, it randomly happens, although more frequent, and i've realized something.. that kind of worked for me.  Are you guys d/ling anything off of yoru computer from the internet (say newsgroup stuff) if that is constantly d/ling to your PC with the Relax Server or the SMB server, that you want to access files from,  I found that once i wasn't d/ling stuff, it was ok, and i was able to traverse the relax server folders and everything in XBMP w/o it freezing.

I'm currently using a linksys broadband router, and that is my observation on how to fix this.. I've tried all the other thigns listed on this forum as well, and this is my conclusion.

I hope this helps you guys.

Using new or old config.xml ?

If old, delete it and edit the new config.xml to your needs. (new = from the zip/rar you are using)

Also, is home dir set right?

Always be case sensitive. If a folder you wanna browse is called Movies dont put in movies in the share but Movies.

You get the idea ihope.

Also try to start xbmp without the network cabel pluged in and see if you can browse the xbox hdd.

XBMP will freeze 3 times the first three minutes for 5-10 seconds. This is due to it trying to get the time over sntp.

What else?

To run debug you need to get the debug default.xbe from a compile. (release is normal and debug is, well, debug..)

Have you tried running it as a dashboard?

Evo-x screws over xbmp in someway it seams, but i havent found a exact explanation in what way. (network releated etc etc)

I tried everything else that was suggested but XBMP obviously did not like jumping between the evox network instance and back.

Thanks to all for your replies and understanding !

Good night (at last),
