BTW, the fix to relax .75 not starting as a service is to check the "Disable error message for empty iplist", or add your ip's to the allowed list. if you leave that empty it pops up a dialog box warning that you don't have ip security turned on, and waits for you to click OK. The problem with the service is that it is trying to pop up this dialog box, but can't, and it is waiting for you to click OK on the phantom window. Thus the lack of starting in a "timely fashion"

I followed the hard to understand instructions in that post and now Relax .75 starts just fine.

Hi! skinnyrat

I was just skimming over some posts and came across yours....I hope I'm not too late.

I recently got all my relax shares to work via all the networked PC's in my home.

This is what I did...

1st make sure in your config.xml file that the entry:

<nameserver>192.168.1.175</nameserver>

---> reflects your particular PC's IP addy and put another separate entry <nameserver>otherPC's addy<nameserver> for the other PC on your network if you have another and so on.

From your config.xml  yours would be <nameserver>192.168.1.175<nameserver>....OK!

Now I never had to put a port number after the IP addy as was sugested by someone else and my shares work fine.  My Xbox and Pc's are connected via a router so I hope my suggestion works for you.

I noticed from your config file that your xbox IP appears to be --->192.168.0.200 but in the xns part of your config file you have your Xbox IP as the shared IP...Why????
The IP here should reflect that of the PC which has the shares which you want to be the server towards your Xbox....Understand????

So for example in the config file it should be something like this for your video catagory:

<share>
       <name>RELAX</name>
       <url>c:\[email protected]</url>
       <cachesize>8192</cachesize>
</share>

I think this is the reason why you are having problems with Relax once you launch it. Correct these particular entries and all should be well.

Tell me how you get on...OK!

thanks  silver (and everybody else whos tried to help)for taking the time to help,i had the ip address that i used for evox,do i need to get my actual pc's ip from a site such as whats my ip?
i tried altering just the videos section like so
<videos>
     <share>
       <name>Network (XBMSP)</name>
       <url>xbmsp://192.168.0.1/videos</url>
            <cachesize>256</cachesize>
     </share>
     <share>
       <name>relax</name>
       <url>c:[email protected]</url>
            <cachesize>8192</cachesize
i havnt altered any other sections of my xml,as posted on previous page,only whats above and still no joy.my relax shares are as follows,i created a share called divx then draged over a folder c:movies with a few avis in,i created a share for mp3 draged a folder across c:mp3s and followed instructions for internet radio,hope you can shed some light,thanks jester.gif

okay i know whats the Problem @skinnyrat in your computer go to START-->>> Run , type Command -->> Now in the MSDOS window Type "ipconfig" , now connect to your xbox  (using your FTP app) and check in drive C: the evox.ini and make SURE that the

Subnetmask and Gateway are EXTACT the same from your computer, if your computer Subnet and gateway are

<subnet*>255.255.269</subnet*>
<gateway*>169.22.45.69</gateway*>

then the xbox subnet and gateway MUST be the same as your computer , check in the MSDOS windows(where u typed ipconfig) to see your computer gateway and subnet , if the xbox subnetmask and gateway arent the same as your computer change it (in the evox.ini.)

the <nameserver>your computer IP</nameserver>

I Hope this Fix your Problem   beerchug.gif

in order to get the shoutcast or live streaming radio, do you need to run the relax.exe or can it be done with the relax_ns.exe?

doesn't answer your question . . . but my guess would be you can run either . . .

Point 2. here gives an explanation of  relax.exe and relax_ns.exe . . .

http://www.raforce.n...relax_guide.htm

2: Running RelaX

You can choose to run relax two different ways. Either as a windows service (GUI optional) witch uses relax.exe or as a single execution (gui dependant) witch uses relax_ns.exe, guess what the "ns" part means... ;P.

Most users running relax from their personal computer would choose to relax_ns.exe, where as you have a dedicated server relax.exe would be preferred to be run as a service.
