Unless I misunderstood you, you're trying to turn off XP Home's easy file sharing and use the more complex Pro style stuff, right? If so, try Windows Explorer -> View -> Folder Options -> at the bottom, untick "Use simple file sharing". That menu structure is from memory but I think it's right.

Try that.

From my understanding, XP Home is limited to "simple file sharing". There is no option to disable it.

edit: Wow, I need to start checking the dates of these posts when I'm searching.
