Control Xbox From Web Page?
« on: April 05, 2003, 10:03:00 PM »

Your F***King nuts with way too much time on your hands.  Web Remote control your XBOX!! What the heck would you do with it other than play a dvd? And why a DVD or even a CD for that matter?  And why through a damn webpage for crying outloud?  You gonna use your laptop as your wireless remote control?  I could understand maybe and this is maybe a palm o/s interface but still could not see a reason why in the hell you would need something like this.

Call me a dumbass but I cannot see a use for this other than saying hey I made a useless remote that controls my xbox functions.

Don't take my message to you about this as a flame.  Me, I'm laughing my ass off even thinking about the whole idea

laugh.gif good luck shelling out $150 for that bluetooth internet connection, maybe you should get Wi-Fi instead.
Why HTML? Unless your xbox is running a webserver. I mean you can try to write a remote control program through the network maybe using C. Just compile the interface damn it.

Ok, you're asking if there is a way? the short answer is no. But you can try to write one yourself.  laugh.gif (I got some experince with webserving and unless you're running a webserver that interfaces with a remote accessing program, then there is no way!)

My reply wasn't directed at you Novalux, sorry if it seemed that way!

And there are devices that let you use your remote in another room...
You can build one yourself:
Build your own remote extender.

Or buy one:
Remote extender piramids.

No worries, its just that compared to most of the newbie questions, this one was quite reasonable.
And flamming, bumping & large sig are my pet hate of the week  wink.gif

What I like about the IPAQ idea is that I could start my MP3 juke box while getting out of the car & shit like that, I always have my IPAQ on me. But the xbox remote is unused and a the bottom of my crap draw.
