I am guessing that you are downloading the freely available source file archive.
You will need to find a compiled version to actually run it, but this is harder to locate because it is illegal (compiled with the MS XDK).

I will just say 'available in the usual places'....

I do not know what "available in the usual places" mean, but I now know that I need a complied version. So.................. I will continue the search.

also make sure if are not dling the zipped iso.. you uniso it.. actually if you didn't know you had to do that you shouldn't be doing anything with your console other than playing a retail copy of fuzion frenzy.

Bear in mind that if you get a CVS build, it is probably going to have lots more bugs than just a plain old V2.3

CVS builds are in between releases. Whatever the developers happen to have done so far. These releases have limited support and are reconed to be less stable than the actual releases like V2.3.
