The XBOX is a console and therefore probably not designed to be on 24/7.

I do believe that it's up to the task though. I have my xbox on 20/7 and have had no problems so far.

It doesn’t make any commercial sense for M$ to make it super reliable.
My guess would be M$ have tested it on 24/7 operations and have just got it past a 12month life expectancy. i.e.: warranty.  So your xbox will be blowing out its own candle on its first birthday: D

Think about it ?

My question is this: Why would ANYBODY want/need to leave it on 24/7????? It's not like your
downloading stuff with it. My PC is up 24/7 because I am grabbing stuff all the time. Hence, there
is a REASON for it. What's your reason?

My Xbox has been off for a total of about two hours in the last three months.  And that was just yesterday, when I tried to flash my matrix using the new evox, and it froze halfway through.  So I had to power off and program it on my PC.  There's really no problem to leaving it on, since you'll have sold your xbox at a garage sale long before they start to fail.  I myself have never had a heat related problem with my xbox, and its crammed inside my entertainment center with very little room for airflow.
