Smb On Xbmp 2.3 Works When "he Wants" :(

Anyway, since this is pure speculation, I'd suggest that you go with the Relax. You configure it once, then install it as service (althoug 0.75 build looks like it hangs on the service startup, but if you ignore it it runs anyway) and then forget about it.

BTW: performance-wise it is much faster then SMB shares (it least in my environment). You can see that on movie startups, fast forward, mp3 startups, etc...

One more thing: the only time I needed to restart RelaX ver 0.75 when I was fast forwarding some SVCD movies - Rleax crashed and I had to start it again. Until the SMB shares support will be extended/improved/stabilized I would suggest using Realx server.

Regards.

I had the same problem.  The reason why it wometimes froze for me was that my smb shared folder was the same as My Shared Folder (kazaa).  Whenever kazaa was d/ling something, XBMP wouldn't be able to read the downloading file, and it' would just freeze.  Hope this helps.
