Vcd/svcd's Won't Play

I have a version 1.1 Xbox with a Samsung drive.  I have many VCD/SVCD movies on Memorex CD-R's but when I try playing them on my box they start to play then get blippy and the audio pops and hisses, kinda like Digital Cable does when it's loading new information.  I have the newest version of XBMP 2.3 CVS build.  I was just wondering if anyone has any idea what I should do or could do to get it to work.

The Samsung drive reads CD-R's.  It will play a CD-R game no problem and play a burned music CD with ease.  Several people I know with samsung drives have been able to play CD-R VCD/SVCD's no problem.
