Why are you praising MS for Media Player?  I would think you would bow to Frodo and the rest of the crew who develops this stuff.......

I have tried to configure this for months and still nothing.  I am using WinXP Pro, user:pass are correct as are workgroup and computer name, I think.  In my system settings it says my computer's name is gates, but the computer's full name is gates.sbnt.com.  Which do I use?

I have everything shared, the whole c drive, d drive (cd rom), and e drive(2nd HDD) and even separate folders.  I have super doublemillion checked every IP and drive setting in the xml file.  I have read the damn manual 10,000 times.  Why won't this work?  There has to be a minor detail that you guys are leaving out because you think every PC user should know it.  Please help.

I don't have my mod yet so I can't test any of these things.  But I am an expert in W2K and Samba.

Try the following formats:

SMB://domain or workstation nameusername:password@workgroup or domain/computername/sharename

or

SMB://domain or workstation nameusername:password@computername/sharename

As I said I don't have my mod's so I can't try it, I'm suspecting that you just need to tell your computer where the username resides and it's credentials.  When I use LM which is similar to samba  you need to have the domainusername or workstationusername if it is a local account and then password@....

Hope this helps guys!  I'm still waiting for easy buy to send me my mods so I can't be much more help until then.

Cheers!
