Star Wars Trilogy Dvd (extras) + Battlefront
« on: September 17, 2004, 05:40:00 PM »

Hi All,

Just put the special features disc of the Star Wars Trilogy DVD into the Xbox to check out the Battlefront Demo. It has copied the Xbox Live Dashboard over the Evo-x dashboard and messed my system up (more messing to put it right!!)

DON'T USE IT UNLESS YOU DON'T MIND PUTTING EVO-X/ MOD DASHBOARD BACK ONTO YOUR XBOX!!

Cheers,

Kefrif

if you still have evox named xboxdash.xbe, you deserve problems wink.gif

What game released in the last 2 years DOESNT update the dash?  jeesh..

Now now, lets not be rude. I still have mine named xboxdash.xbe and there is good reasoning! My chips unflashable and its not yet worth upgrading... There haven't been any major bios updates in the last 2 years that are worth installing a new chip.... IMHO  smile.gif

Nice One, thanks.

Luckily I've got Battlefront already so I don't need that disc.   <

Ok, i had this problem last night and it is probably due to my total-newbieness and lack of understanding of how this all works.

I have an xbox with an xecuter2 chip. As i understand it (which isn't much) an xecuter2 allows you to boot to the original xbox biox when you start with the eject button instead of the power one. Is this right?

Unfortunately when i start my xbox that way i get an error screen. (needs service or something).

I started my xbox the normal way (power button) for evo-X, then went to the microsfot dashboard option to get into that. Then i inserted the battlefront demo dvd and it brought up a Live Error.

What does this mean? Does it mean my MS dash is messed up but my evo-x one is ok?
If so, how do i restore my MS Dash?
If the Xecuter2 really does have 2 boot up modes, does that mean you flash it with 2 bioses, and i need to replace one of them?

I've never tried to play a disk based game in my xbox before, so how should i do it under evo-x?

I've looked at the tutorials, but they all assume a level of existing knowledge i haven't yet obtained.

Confused...  <

As heinrich said, this will only affect an Xbox that has evox (or other dash) named "xboxdash.xbe".  Your Evox should be named "evoxdash.xbe" if you are using a current BIOS.

Also as heinrich stated this was happen with most any recent game as well and is not unique to the Star Wars DVDs.  <

so, does this imply that my current setup is using an old method, and has the evo-X dash named as xboxdash.xbe? (which is why SW:B doesn't like it and the startup with eject causes an error?)

is it a case of renaming the files and getting a new copy of xboxdash.xbe, or do i need to download a whole new bios and version of evo-X?

[edit] I assume that older versions automatically look for xboxdash.xbe, but newer bioses can look for any name you define, is this correct?

i'm not sure what versions i have, i'll have to check when i get the chance.

It's really difficult to say.  What BIOS are you running?  <

who knows... i'll have a look at stuff when i get home tonight and see if i can identify the versions of the chip, the bios and the dashboards (and their names).

Any confirmation on the fact the xecuter2 is supposed to be able to boot normally with the eject button?  <
