If you do that then you will not be able to use XBox LIVE  ;)

you can install a switch that works for xbox live

PS: you can tsop flash with any version xbox (not sure about 1.6)

but you just won't be able to use live

if you tsop flash with a switch for live you can use live with a tsop flash (v 1.0 and 1.1 only)

I'd say it's better to go with a modchip. And Hotswapping is leaving your Xbox powered on until the screen dims, and then replacing the IDE cable in the back of your HD with one from your PC, and using a program like HDD_Driver to gain access to it, and apply exploits.

Well, if you want me to elaborate more on which Modchip to get, I need to know what you plan on putting on your modded Xbox. If you've got the money, I've got an Xecuter 2.3b Pro with external switches for Xbox live play, and it was pretty easy to install.

But if you don't have a lot of money, and just want to play backups and emulators and stuff, then you could be just fine with a Cheapmod.

The Xecuter is nice because you've got four 256k banks for BIOS, so if anything ever goes wrong, you can boot to Cromwell and flash new BIOS.

Then modchip is definitely the way to go. I'm not sure when the next generation modchips are coming out, but an Xecuter 2.3b Pro would probably suit your needs if you don't want to wait around for new chips to be installed.

It is just whatever you want to do.  Just make the decision.  I am a fan of chips, though I have not done TSOP, so I am not going to knock it.
