i followed this guide to a T

and now when i put my new hardrive into my xbox i get a please call customer service, i have no idea what to do now. i used hd maker to make the hd. 3 things happened that im not sure about since im a noob modder.

1. at the generate hd key, do i use the locking password or the hdd key to lock my new hardrive? i used the locking password. (40 digits)

2.when checking my hdd key and locking password i saw this at the bottem of the screen (shows what my new hardrive settings were)

Security supported : yes
Security enabled : No
Security locked : No
Security frozen : yes
Security counter expired : No
Enhanced secuirty erase supported : No
Security level : High

shouild secuirty frozen be yes?

3. when i inserted the hd maker floppy, right above the dos prompt was 4 lines that said

Illegal partition table - drive 00 sector 0

is that bad?

what i really need help with is NOW what do i do? do i put the hardrive back in my computer and unlock it? what key do i use to unlock it? the hdd key? i also heard theres a masterkey for hddmaker that unlocks the drive. you type XBOXSCENE

after i unlock it what do i do? please help.

btw im useing the softmod, the doubledash exploit. and im useing a maxtor ultra series, Maxtor 6Y160P0 160 gb.

and does it matter what the hardrive is set to? i saw that old xbox hardrive i took out of my xbox was put as cable select, so i put cable select on my new hardrive. then i tried primary master and still nothing.

Sorry i dont know about softmods so i cant help you there.... easiest way is with a modchip, you take out your hard drive, put in a new one, and if your using unlesh x as a dashboard, then it will say, "hey i got a new hard drive, want me to format it for you?" he he he SIMPLE.

somebody said i am getting a error 5 because my hardrive is not properly locked, they said configmagic will lock it right.

but how do i use configmagic? when u boot up the xbox you get a error 5 with the hardrive. making it impossible to lock it. i dont know what to do.

configmagic, evox, couple of other programs will lock it.

and yes, your getting an error 5 cause your trying to boot to a retail bios with an unlocked hdd and it doesnt like that.

r u saying i have to use a softmod that boots me right into evox instead of the ms dashboard first? then i wont get a error 5 and il be able to use configmagic?

also i wanted to see if my new drive was locked, just improperly. so i used atapwd and it showed this next to the hard drive

S+ E- L- F+ X- and V (which didnt have a + or -) is my drive locked or still unlocked?

its modded, but with the double dash exploit. so it loads into the ms dashboard first, then you click XBOX LIVE and it loads into evox through pbl.

i dont suppose useing my old xbox hardrive just to boot into evox then swapping it with the new hardrive while my xbox is still on and im in evox would work? because that would be alot easier.

i installed ude on my old xbox hardrive, now i put my c: and e: contents in the linux folder in hardrive maker, and am now burning the iso. after that im gonna have hard drive maker format it, then put it in the xbox and let it load to ude, unlocked. then lock it in evox or configmagic.

this will work right? from everything thats been stated here it seems that u can boot an unlocked drive in evox.
