First, make sure that your subtitle file has the same file name as the divx file, and is in the same directory. Also turn on subs in XBMP settings. Should display automatically when movie is played.

Did you actually include the subtitles in the divx when you made it ????

rename .srt to .txt

you can configure your subtitle in skin.xml, under <subtitle> section

you could change font color, position and etc.

subtitles are disabled by default (at least they were on my XBMP).  Make sure they are enabled under settings (general, i think).

Also, make sure you have a subtitle-font.ttf in the Media folder

You might also want to try and open the subtitle file in Subtitle Studio or some other editor.  It may not be properly formatted.

The names of these 2 files need to be exactly the same.

for example

hero.avi
hero.srt

then it will work

What version of XBMP do you have?
I've had alot of problems with subtitles in earlier versions.

Right now I'm running a CVS build of XBMP v2.3 and it works with .srt, .txt and even .sub subtitles

Are you shure it's a correct subtitle file?
Open the .srt in a text editor.
What does it look like?

This is how they most likely will look like:

.srt:
CODE
1
00:00:22,940 --> 00:00:26,460
bla bla bla

2
00:00:51,900 --> 00:00:57,220
bla bla bla

.sub:
CODE
{992}{1073}UN FILM DI ALMODOVAR
{1076}{1225}bla bla bla
{5427}{5502}bla bla bla

If it just looks like a bunch of nonesence, it's probably a .sub

I have exactly thesame problem with subtitles in XBMP 2.3, only I use VOBSUB subtitles, so there is a .idx and a .sub.

Can anyone help me with the problem, there allready is a ttf file in the media dir, so it should work...

Also there isn't any menu which gives u a choice for the language of the Subtitles, there is one, only that option is prolly for DVD's,

please some help  blink.gif

BTW. A .sub file looks more like this:

@S¥øQ%   EPP  DüQ%   É¥ ZP  TQ%ZQ¥ZQEå‘%ZQ¥…å…åZTžQÉ‘©TQ%‘%Z‘%$‘©$ZÞÑiž‘E¥Eé(‘©ZÞÑiÅ¥  TQ%Q%…QEQ%…*TQ%…TQ)Q…2Rå…*‘%…*TR¥RåPRXRe….QÅ.XPR‘%

QUOTE
okee, but how about my problem, what ever i do , i don't get the sub's
And i have .srt files

Things to check:

1 - The subtitles MUST have the same name as the video file. If your video is called MyV1De0.avi, the subtitles MUST be named MyV1De0.srt

2 - They must be at the same directory (works even with Relax, I did it)

3 - When you start playing the video, XBMP will cache in memory the subtitle and display a message to say it's doing so. If it doesn't, something fishy is going on

4 - Try a different build. I had a 2.2 buid that would never boot from the HDD, only from a DC. When I changed to a 2.3 build, I was able to launch it from the HDD

5 - Check the .srt file at Notepad or Wordpad and see if it's a text file with timming information. also, search for alternative subtitles files for your video if you're not sure if the subtitle file is ok. Also, try it on a PC. Chances are that if it doesn't work there with a subtitle plug-in, it won't work on XBMP

If it works, enjoy  beerchug.gif . If not, check the version you have and search for bug reports on this forum. Just don't give up as XBMP can play these files, I also had some headaches with XBMP, it's a great program once you tame it  cool.gif .

So, its still not working
