Ok, I had posted this before and didnt get far. This time I will restate my question and maybe someone will have a suggestion for me? First I will state the problem...
I have all of my families music, photos, videos... on my computer and shared on our network. My wife and son access these via mapped drives using just windows file sharing over IP. All of our machines are XP home, except my laptop which is XP Pro. Everything is fine and has been fine all along... had that running for a while before I found out about xbmp. Since then I have been trying to get xbmp to play nice with my setup... I heard relax was the best way to go so I set that up on my computer... xbmp was fine... except while I was testing it (via Relax) my wife started freaking out because her music was freaking out... her music would not play right, when she went to browse the mapped drive with all of our media on it, it would not come up... I turned off xbmp and boom everything went back to normal... I thought, hmmm, thats not good... so I tried smb... smb worked fine, my wife did not have any problems... they played fine on the xbox... everything seemed good... then I tried to get playlists to work on music via the smb share. Seemed easy enough... No dice, tried until I am blue in the face. I can get playlists to work locally, and I understand that playlists work fine via relax but on smb it will do either one of three things... nothing, lockup for a long time and then come back but not play music... or lockup and never come back??? I am open to suggestions here. Is there a good way for everyone to be able to access the stuff from other computers via Relax? or should it be fine as is and something must be wrong with how I configured it? Or is there a work around for the playlist problems I have haiving with smb??? any help would be greatly appreciated...
