XBMP 2.4 Poll
« on: February 24, 2003, 01:02:00 PM »

Definitely Bug Fixes!!! XBMP is the GREAT!!! In fact I would not buy an XboX until I found out about XBMP. As soon as I saw it work, I got an XboX!!! New features are nice and all but I want to use XBMP as a serious user... Not a beta testing, constantly monkeying around, installing every new version in hopes of a fix kinda user... I think as is, it is the absolute best thing to happen to the xbox but I just want it to work like it should... in particular the smb and playlists...

Edit: edit comment about documentation. Just noticed there was new documentation out there... step in the right direction but could still use some improvments... But it is better...

Note to the Developers: You guys rock!!! Keep up the great work!!! Just checked currently the #2 most active project on sourceforge!!! I haven't done it just yet, but sometime this week I am going to make a paypal donation to your work... Keep it up... And Thanks!!!

Personally I would rather have more features then Bug Fixes. Their is always Bugs in Points and CVS Builds. You can fix the Bugs after the Point. smile.gif

MP3 Visualizations would be the best though.

Leave the bug fixing to us mortals, let the xbmp gods work on features.

Visualization would be cool!  I don't run in to many bugs when playing around...  I use a stand alone for my VCD/SVCD biggrin.gif so no trouble there....

PM? hehehe wink.gif Just givin ya a hard time... If I were good enough to debug their work then I might try to fix my problems but I have too much going on to even think about trying to debug someone elses code... biggrin.gif

I do. I use it to play mp3's on the entertainment center rather than my crappy computer speakers. I don't waste my xbox drive space by loading the mp3s on there, I play them over the network... I just need to get this playlist over smb bug worked out for it to be really useful to me...

I also watch and show family/friends our home videos and photo collections that are on my computer.

Occasionally watch a movie that I downloaded.

I kinda view this as a viable media center... (less the pvr). Media Center was a good idea but a poor implementation. It's just not practicle for the average family use... They should have made media center a set top box... anyway, This is like the best of all worlds.. My son gets a cool console and I get a better media center... (now if you have to push for new features instead of bug fixes... lets talk pvr on the xbox wink.gif wink.gif wink.gif heheh

I'd rather have the mp3 visualizations first, even tho it'll be buggy like hell smile.gif   THE must have feature for me.   Bug fixes can always come later wink.gif

We XBMP addicts can always download more cvs builds to get the bug'fixes'  tongue.gif

Tweak the controller controls layout for playback functions, for the love of god! XBMP is fabulous but this is still an issue! It would be so great to, for example, FFW or REW without using the damn Windows Media player interface and scrollbar!

an other example: FFW and REW during an MP3 playback is nearly impossible, it just goes way too fast

Well I said bug fixes. However, I do know that bugs are always being worked on and so is adding more features. I would like to see a good audio visualization, more files supported (Realmedia, Quicktime), and USB drive support. And maybe whoever does the CVS builds should do one with out all that network and apps stuff for those of us who don't want our computers pluged in to the xbox all the time and don't want XBMP as a dash replacement. Well the network stuff I can remove my self, but the apps I can't. And I think the USB drrive support should be pretty easy since XBMP is already loading all the drivers and codecs for the media files why not add one for USB support, so I can transfer (or watch) files easier.
