hey... i made a backup dvd of one that i owned, and i tried to play it with Dvdx, however it had a big line at the top and bottom, and there was no way to change this as dvdx thought this was part of the movie... Damn i thought what can i do...so then i went and decided to try it with todays cvs release of xbmp from xbins, however i'd heard bad reports of xbmp playing Dvds (it was a proper dvd with all the different .vob files) So i load it up and just play the first .vob file and its the same, then i went into the options and enabled stretch, damn though it still didn't change as it thought the stripe above was part of the film!Try again, so i clicked options again and disabled stretch, enable Zoom and wahey i thought! It filled the whole screen.. but after about 25mins of watching the first.vob file came to an end and i closed that and opened the next one...by the end of watching the first 3.vob's i was fed up of doing this so i decided to try and change it. I opened up the main xbmp screen went into settings and selected Stack files, however you have proably heard the bad reviews of these before. So then i selected the 4th.vob file and watched comfortably for another 60mins without having to touch the controller again! There wasn't a single glitch between opening the other .vobs after the 4th one, and if you're wondering the dvd was a in Iso9660 format!
Hope that will help some one who has the same problem with bands at the top!
