Tivo And Xbmp.. Help Needed
« on: February 20, 2003, 09:35:00 AM »

Is there anyone experienced with enabling codec's via the codec.conf file in XBMP 2.3?

The reason I ask is that I have an ATI 8500 AIW 128 with the remote control which is RF based as opposed to IR which will become important in a sec...as soon as you launch the ATI TV player it creates a file called "ATI-TShift.vcr" which on my system is stored in "C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataATI MMC" (WinXP) this is basically a live running file of what you are watching it is created for the time shifting feature but because the extension is .vcr it is propritery to ATI but looking at the codec.conf file you will see the following listed:

videocodec vcr2
info "ATI VCR-2"
status working
fourcc VCR2
driver vfw
dll "ativcr2.dll"
out YV12
out BGR24

I have already setup my relax share to point to this directory and you do get the sound but there is no video,So I tried playing this file with Windows Media player on my PC..same result I then downloaded and installed "ATIVCRx.exe" which allows people with non ATI card machines to play these files (.vcr) the program installs all the nesscary codecs after it was installed I launched the default ATI TV player and at the same time launched the "ATI-TShift.vcr" file via Windows Media player and it works and because the remote is RF based (Radio Freguency) the signal can travel thru walls so I can basically change channels and pause live TV...TVIO. I have also tried this same test with XBMP basically I launch the TV player on my PC and I then launch the "ATI-TShift.vcr" file via XBMP and although I have no picture to go by I can change channels and pause live TV and of course I can also record live TV and the file is kept on my PC. So if someone could  help with the codec.conf file to enable the video signal it should work..any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance!
