Latest Xbmp Feb 4 Locks Up
« on: February 04, 2003, 07:54:00 PM »

I have downloaded this file from different sources and all of them have locked up while loading. It stays at the loading screen, and never even gets to the xbmp splash screen. Anyone else had this problem. Is this another one of those IGR issues or something ?

Maybe I'll just wait, cuz there will probably be another version out tomorrow.

Check the Readme file that comes with it. here is a snip from it, look at the line about the .cut file highlited in red

"2-4-2003:

A lot of people had a lot of issues with yesterdays build. REMEMBER!
This is CVS code; it's certain to have a lot of bugs. If it doesn't
work, go look at the bug tracker at:

   http://sourceforge.n...793&atid=508678

If it's already listed, don't relist it. Just sit back, relax for
a few days, and maybe your bug will get fixed.

Now, onto the goodies. IFO playback on DVD's now work! Get to your
DVD drive using UDF (its in the config.xml sample) and play away.
Ensure that "ifo" is in your <extentions><videos>. I put in Memento
and The Matrix, both played. However, audio sync was WAY off. I didnt
troubleshoot this w/ a/v sync settings, feel free to do so. This
was with an original Xbox DVD drive. Also, there is no current way
to access DVD menus.

Lastly, the .cut file that was mandatory as of yesterdays release,
well, STILL IS. If it's not there, it will HANG at loading, if it's
incorrect, it will kick you back to evox. Here are the CVS notes:

Guys, look at the README...

You have to edit the "CUT" (somefile.cut, I forget the actual name)  file included with the release to point to XBMP and put it in the root of C:

You have to edit the "CUT" (somefile.cut, I forget the actual name)  file included with the release to point to XBMP and put it in the root of C:

i have tried editing the file: XBOX Media Player.cut

i have pointed it to where my XBMP default.xbe files resides . . .

<shortcut>
<path>Harddisk0Partition1appsXBMPdefault.xbe</path>
</shortcut>

Mine is on E: partition in a folder called appsXBMP

NOTE from cut file:

And it still dont work.

Previous version 2-1-2003 also needs the cut file.
Leaving this file un-edited in original state . . .

<path>Harddisk0Partition2xbplayer.xbe</path>

And XBMP 2-1-2003 works fine.  Maybe cut file is responsible for locking up problem ?

For Some Reason backslashes are left out when posting

I got it working by putting the cut file in the root of c:

Here is my cut file, and my xbmp is loctaed on F:appsxbmp

<shortcut>
<path>Harddisk0Partition6appsxbmp</path>
</shortcut>

Hope this helps

For me it would be:

<shortcut>
<path>Harddisk0Partition6appsxbmpdefault.xbe</path>   (w/backslashes left out)
</shortcut>

I edited it accordingly and placed in the root of 'C' drive.  And it runs - no probs.  Although I think that they could have been a little more specific in the readme file about this matter.

Screw all that crap. I'm still using 2.0 because I had so many problems with the newer versions. Not booting, freezing a lot, and not being able to browse my folders are my three biggest complaints. . .it's just irritating. . .

this release is awesome. VCD BABY!! it plays my originals but not my copied
discs...oh well, better than nothing. the only prob is that it takes a couple secs
to load up a movie from from my pc...maybe they'll get it fixed.

and you all should just read the README file, it explains everything.
maybe read it slowly to fully understand it all

I have just insalled the new new CVS version, and as a lot of people it just freeze up at the loading stage, even with the .cut file, nothing to do, so just give up...

So I think that I just stay like with the version that I have for now...

Okay. I got it to boot, and I've gotten it to play IFO files from a DVD. Not great, but still not bad. Anyway, when I go into My Videos and try to browse the HD, it doesn't thow anything. . . .how can I get to the videos I have on me E Drive?

People are referring to the CVS UNOFFICIAL releases. They are availabe in the usual places (IRC, Newsgroups)
If you get the latest version of the CVS release, you don't need to do this .cut file fix anymore.
