How To Play Dvd On The Xbox Drive?
« on: January 21, 2003, 09:03:00 PM »

I dont think DVD's themselves are supported at this time.

I know XBMP2.2 will play VOB's off the Hard Drive.
XBMP2.2 will not playback VOB's over Relax
and so far I cannot get them to playback off DVDR in my testing.

You can use both DVDX2 and the M$ DVD Player at the same time.

Using the method described below you can use both the native Xbox DVD Player and DVDx2.

Intructions on how to use this method after its setup.
1) Anytime you want to use DVDX2 Boot the Xbox without a movie in the drive.
Then launch DVDX like any other application from EvoX
Hit the Eject button insert the dvd and use the DVDX controls to play the DVD.

2) Anytime you want to use the M$ DVD Player reboot the Xbox with a DVD movie in the drive.
The Xbox will use the original M$Dashboard to playback the DVD.

Setup/HowTo:
You will need a bios that supports the eject trick and
You will have to edit the evox.ini to some thing like this:

[Misc]

AutoLaunchGames   = No
AutoLaunchDVD   = Yes  <---- you must turn on auto play DVD
#DVDPlayer   = "DVDX2","F:\DVDX2\default.xbe" <---The # makes Evox skip the line entirely
DVDPlayer   = "c:\xboxdash.xbe" <---- Original Xbox dashboard file name.
AutoLaunchAudio   = Yes
#AudioPlayer   = "c:\xboxdash.xbe"
MSDashBoard   = "c:\xboxdash.xbe"
UseFDrive   = Yes
SkinName   = Tesai_GetsIT
IGR      = Yes

Then add the DVDX application to the auto add application directory if you are using it
or manualy add an Item line to the launch root directory like this:

Section "Root"
{
       Item "Reboot",@5
       Item "Power Off",@10
       Item "DVDX2","F:\DVDX2\default.xbe" <---Put the correct path to your DVDX2 app here
       Item "Launch DVD",@14

There maybe a better way, I dunno.
This works good for me.
