Hi, if you are burning onto cdr then the chances are it wont work, but my xbox reads all my cdrs thankfully.  If you are burning onto cdrw then the best bet is to burn so that the disk is closed using dao mode.  It sometimes doesnt work changing that only but if you put it in udf128 mode it works every time.  This can all be changed in prassi primo dvd/cd burner software - its done by going to edit and then recording options.  Then its just simple to add the file to the cd in the basic directory and burn in a regular data disk layout (with the changes above).  Enjoy Chris

It would help to know what app you are using to burn the CDR/CDRW
Even though I use Primo DVD like explicitlyrics100
I just tested Nero with these settings and played back a 700meg avi:

just browes back to ISO9660 to view and playback the file.

what do you mean by this line ,you mean how do you browse from the xbox?

thanks for the reply

Once you are in the My Video's menu section of XBMP
Goto into My Videos and press the B button on the Controller or the Back Button on the remote
Until you see the D, E, F and iso9660 directory options on the right.
You can browse the entier xbox like this.
Choose the iso9660 option to read the media in the DVDROM drive.

Here is a link to the XBMP2.2 Manual:

does it work the same for vcd and mp3. i finally got it working but i was wondering do you have to wait everytime for the xbox to cache the file when you want to play from cd. or is it stored on the hard drive once it is cached and ready to play without the disc. currently it takes 3-4 min to cache will i have to wait everytime.

thanks and no worries you didn't send me a private message.

Your welcom for the links.

No you dont:
Goto Settings:General and turn off disk iso9660 cashing

IF you cannot see the three dots on the ~RIGHT~ side of the screen that let you know what option is turned on or not then go here:

Wobbie:
ah thanks all! will give it a go once ive downloaded the IGR fix 2.2 version.

update: just to say it works now!

for those that are still confused about how to get this thing working properly here is the result of the advise i was given!:

1. go get xbmp 2.2
2.Get the IGR fix
3. Copy default.xbe from IGR fix into xbmp directory
4. find a copy of 2.1 and copy : (erexx: This fixes the font size problem)
common-font13.xpr
common-font14.xpr
common-font64.xpr
from the media folder to the 2.2 media folder
5. delete e:\TDATA\0face007 (to clear stuff relating to any previous installation of xbmp)
6. reset an run xbmp
7. try to disable "cache ISO 0996... " option. this time it should have an arrow beside it to show on/off !
8. play a divx off an ISO cd!

...hope this helps!

Make sure you are running xbmp2.2 and look a few posts back up.
I explain how to fix that bug in 2.2 and and few other thing you have to do
to ensure that 2.2 works smoothly from the start...
