Ok, i installed my Xecuter Pro. I boot it up with the switch on and ready to flash. I put in a CD-R/W (memorex) and I install a 256k bios file. I put 4980.67 on a disk with a 100mb dummy file. I rename the file dummy.bin and BIOS.bin. Burn it really slow, no multisession, disk and once in NERO. I load it successfully. I turn it back on, get nothing. The CD tray wont open, light flashes red and green. If i turn it on with the chip off or in Flash mode again, it goes to the cromwell screen.

I'm thinking about reflashing it with the LPT port. I was wondering if the Xecuter Bios Manager will automatically detect the XBOX when I hook it to my computer via the LPT cable. Also I was reading somehting about cable length. Should I use a short cable?

Is EvoX a BIOS or is it a dashboard? How easy is that to install once I get bios on there?

Both.

EvoX-M8 is the latest bios
EvoX-3935 is the latest dashboard

The dash is easy to install. Read the tutorial section.

You can not just burn software on a cd and have a unmodded xbox read it. That is why modchips are created. You flash a new bios to either a modchip, or the onboard chip (TSOP) and then install a dashboard, such as EvoX or Avalaunch, and then you can use those programs you want.

The bios and dashboard have nothing to do with what chip you have. I recommend for a newbie, use the bios X2 4983.06 and the dashboard EvoX. If you want to modify the bios, use X2 4981.06 and the best dashboard in my opinion is Avalaunch.

I finally got it. I have the latest EvoX and the bios is X2 4983.06. Loaded Xbox2DVD. I want to put in a bigger HD now. What kind of things can you get out of modding the BIOS?
