What Do You Want To See In Xbmp

Sorry if this hasn't already been mentioned, but...

I'd like to see an "infinite delay" when viewing pictures.  ACDSee for the PC functions like this.  You can do a slideshow with automatic delay, or you simply open the first file and you can "scroll" through the rest, leaving a pic on screen as long as you want without switching to the next or exiting.

Excellent job on a fantastic Xbox app!!

biggrin.gif .  most of the stuff i would like added has been mentioned but just wanted to throw in my 2c.  love.gif

*** Visualization (i know... over-rated but its neat)

*** Thumbnails (i don't want to have to copy every jpg file from my pc to the xbox, rename it, convert it into .tbn!!! especially since they are all in different sub dirs music/artist/album... can't it just pull the jpg from the same location it pull the .mp3???)

*** Playlists (right now i don't even use playlists cause its overly complicated... i don't want to have to go through all 20 gigs of mp3, selecting each one and then saving the playlist... i just want to select a shared dir and save... [this feature may already be implemented, but i wouldn't know because xbmp locks up everytime i try to select an entire dir... even small ones]... and why does the song have to start playing when selecting a dir to add to the playlist??? this may be part of the lockup problem in adding it to the playlist... sad.gif  also how do you load a saved playlist??? some type of notation of which playlist is loaded and which files are already a part of that playlist when browsing the files would be cool also  biggrin.gif )

*** Editor (more config.xml options in the settings please  wink.gif )

*** Custom Menus (i only use xbmp for music and video... can i remove the buttons for apps and pics? i'm not interested in replacing evox with xbmp i just want really good multimedia  cool.gif )

*** Screensaver (i really don't get what the screensaver does in the current version??? just blanks the screen???  that's really kinda lame  sad.gif )

all in all xbmp is an awesome app... but you asked for suggestions  biggrin.gif

I would really like to see this:

When browsing through the movies in XBMP, we should be able to press some button, and a window pops up with a description of the movie. We would need to input the description ourselves, but thats not to hard to find online.

Again added!  Try to read the other posts in this forum section.  Press the white button while on a folder or movie file, and XMBP will try to contact the Internet Movie Database and pull up information about the movie. But it's still unsupported and crashes alot.  But I like it.  I especially like the fact that you can also do this with folder names, and not just file names.  I also ran across this.  This program parses information from IMDB and and can also output the contents of a collection as a XML file.  It'd be cool if support could be added for all those tags and you could perhaps use the exported XML description file and have XBMP read information about your collection from there.  And then you could access it by pressing the white button.  I dunno whether or not it'd work, but I like the program and think it's a good way to manage a large movie collection.

Sorry I didn't know that. I did notice that the new XBMP realease have had some stuff that said IMDB or something. And when I asked what that was on the mirc chat thing, no one responded to me. Cool I guess, I'll try it out.

It's easy to complain when you're not the one doing the work but you wanted suggestions so here we go:

I think the current bugs should be worked out before adding tons of other things.  A solid base should be built and new features should only be added once this has been attained.

No point having a gazillion things that don't work very well.

My 2 cents.

i would like to play divx and mp3 files from dvd-r
but v2.2 will only play the first 1/2 of the files on dvd-r

i just get a screechey noise if i I try to play any media file from over the 2gig point in a dvd-r or dvd-rw.

(v2.1 didn't have this problem.....but then it cached the entire
movie/mp3)

ps dvd movies on dvd-r/rw play fine all the way thru.......so
don't blame my media.

.TS is esentially MPG with some extra stuff for broadcasting the hdtv stream.

so xbmp plays wmv9, i was unaware, i will have to try when i get home.

TS is not essentially MPG.

You can encapsulate services in a TS, and those services may or may not carry video and/or audio on PIDs. These PIDs may or may not be encoded in MPG. You can carry anything in a TS. At work I write code to carry IP streams (carousels, streaming video (mpeg4, divx, etc.) inside a TS PID ;-)

Depending on your platform (ATSC or DVB), you have either 188-byte or 204-byte packets to work with in the TS PID stream. You can pack anything into these (within common sense/reason).

troll123: storing the files locally on the xbox or playlist creation I am familiar with, but how can I view the playlist and interact with that list through a pc on the network? Could you point me to a thread or URL where I can read more about this, because I can't seem to find any documentation about that.

THNX!

You really can't currently you need tools on both to be able to edit etc. You can create playlists on the xbox and save them but to manipulate them you need to use a pc.

I would like to see some audio visulations, more playable file types (i.e. Real, and Quicktime), and a non-network/non-dash replacement version.  I am tired of trying to figure out the config file to remove all the netork and apps stuff. Oh and with 2.3 I noticed that you can now acess media off CDs, why not add support for USB hardrives too?

a: yeah, like they are gonna make a stupid stripped down version for people to lazy to learn to edit a config file
b: editing the config file is simple, how about you actually take a look at it before giving up

I would like to see visualizations in a future release. And of course advanced playlist features and options.
